  • Agreed, James Edwards had a good article on the deadline basically saying these deals were an needed to clean up the mess of last off-season.

One of the Detroit Bad Boys guys said on Twitter, he's glad they can't trade a first rounder because of the Knicks holding the pick. He doesn't want Weaver being able to trade a first rounder.

      • Here's another underwhelming puff piece:

Killian Hayes, the Detroit Pistons' first selection of Troy Weaver’s tenure as general manager in 2020, got every chance to lead the rebuild.

          • Can the Pistons find a Mike Muscala that is 10 years younger?

Yay, so we can end up the 5th worst team at the rate we're going.

              Yippee.

With the Pistons right now, I feel like I was feeling for most of my life with the Lions until Sheila/Chris/Brad/Dan took over: Almost no hope outside of a player here and there.

              • Why does it matter? After all, the league conspires against them in the draft lottery anyway, right?

                • The point of this season was letting these young guys play and seeing how it works. It would be great to see them finish with the 5th worst record this year, hopefully even better. That would mean these young guys are taking a step. Stop worrying about the draft, this year is weak anyways. Their future is seeing what Cade/Ivey/Duren with Thompson and Sasser can do. If their offensive net rating doesn't tumble losing Burks and Bojan, but their defensive net rating improves over the last 30 games then they have something to build on.

As far as Muscala being 10 years younger, is that's missing the point. You can find those type of guys. But you actually have to try and find them. Up until that trade they didn't try at all they kept on trying to develop centers who have no range a d don't play defense.

                    • The new additions looked good yesterday, they lost it in the 4th. Only Cade could hit a shot then. If you are one to complain about the refereeing, that game would have given you ammunition.

Unfortunately for the Pistons, the slew of moves didn't result in losing Wiseman and Williams insists on using him in crunch time situations.

                        • I'm not a Weaver fan, but I have to admit that the current roster finally makes sense. Fontecchio is exactly the kind of player this team needed -- 4 who shoots 3s and can play a little defense. Grimes is a decent gamble on a young 3 & D player.

If they had all players healthy and available on day 1 (Morris & Bojan in particular), the team probably would have been competent, but maybe Weaver isn't forced into making these deals.

                            • All of my optimism post trade deadline was misguided. Williams is back up to playing 11 man rotations with a lot of Wiseman. Also, Stewart punched Drew Eubanks before the game, broke his hand and was arrested. He's out for the year now. A hothead with 3 more years at 15 million a year.

                              • The Freep and Detroit News reports on the incident:

Isaiah Stewart, who has been out for eight games with an ankle injury, punched Drew Eubanks before Detroit Pistons-Phoenix Suns game Wednesday.
