They should have gotten more than two second rounders for those two. But Grimes is OK. They still have 4 players to waive of trade

Portland's whole offense was Jerami Grant, he wore down by the end of the game but was still scoring at the line.
You can't take too much away from this game because Portland was also shorthanded, but you can see the vision of what they should be. You have the core four guys playing a lot of minutes with players designed to help them. The first half of the season they were also trying to develop Livers, Wiseman and Hayes along with trying the Stewart at 4 experiment. After all these moves Sasser makes a lot more sense.
In listening to the radio, people were all apoplectic about the trade deadline. You can tell who doesn't actually watch or listen to the games. Valenti and Rico were saying you need to decide on Cade or Ivey because they can't play together. The biggest problem is they weren't playing together for extended stretches, we don't know what they can do because Williams was doing all that other nonsense and burying Ivey on the bench. I think Weaver needs to go but the changes they made are a step in the right direction. Since the Muscala deal, they are 5-7 and their offensive net rating has been something like 11th. The guys they acquired should help defensively because the guys they sent out in trades simply didn't play defense.

Fontecchio is an RFA, they will re-sign him. Grimes is a RFA in 2025. Muscala is a UFA, but he is making 3.5 million, they can easily re-sign him. All glue guys who can play defense and shoot. Those are the three guys who are of interest in keeping. Fontecchio will get a considerable raise. Having that much cap space might be a detriment if they spend it stupidly. They have 5 to 6 young guys that they need to play to see what they have, that was the maddening thing about the first half of the season.
Now they need to see how they play for the next 31 games.

Fontecchio and Grimes are 3 & D rotation guys. They are not bad pieces to add.
I think the frustration is all the shit Weaver has done, the Joe Harris bullshit this summer, the Bagley contract that he had to pay to send away, Monte Morris being one of their big gets and then shipping him out for next to nothing, having that stupid Knicks pick hanging over his head and not being able to get it back through multiple deals with the Knicks; not getting perceived value for Burks or Bogey (though people were over rating what they were going to bring back). And of course just having to cut the #7 pick in draft. He's cleaning up messes he made, and the thought of giving him another shot with a bunch of cap money this summer is concerning.
