  • JJJ was a top 5 pick. But you’re also missing Stanley Johnson over Devin Booker. The Booker/Mitchell misses are not on Weaver though, those were SVG.

The 2021 draft was supposed to be great, but the 3 “sure thing” guys who looked liked studs after one year just haven’t turned out that way yet. Barnes, Franz and Sengun (#16) are perhaps the best three players from that draft.

They will probably have a decent second half and will win a few games for that reason and just the fact it happens that way in sports and this league in particular. No way can you construct a team that loses as much as they do in the NBA. It's almost unfathomable how bad they have to be to lose this much.

        • Again, maybe that is the case, but in every game after the first 5 games they have not been competitive. It isn't like they ever have leads. At first they were within striking distance and blew it in the 4th but now they are getting blown out starting in the second quarter. They look like an overmatched 15 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Last year this team relied a lot on Saddiq Bey and Corey Joseph. Those guys could shoot the three. The replacements for them cannot shoot the three or are unplayable.

I think hoping some opponent sleepwalks their way to a loss against the Pistons is wishcasting. Nobody is going to want to want to lose to them, the shame would be unbearable. Also everyone wants to pad their stats against this cream puff.

            • Very pathetic, Pistons.
The Jazz were missing their star player in Lauri Markkanen. Along with a handful of other rotational players. Pistons a slight favorite for that reason and they still lose by 8 points.

              25 straight losses!!

I never thought that I'd live to say this, but maybe Gores should sell the team to a Ford, in this case, Sheila Ford Hamp.

The thought that a Ford knows more about building a team than the Owners of the other sports teams in town is new territory for me.

                • People were.makimg too much of the Jazz sitting starters, the guys they had to play would be starters on the Pistons. Olynuk would be the best center they have.

Also, Bogdonavic needs to go, he is as hardly bothering to play defense or rebound. Send him out.

and its not like he is getting any younger....we were upset he didnt ship him out at last trade deadline....he may get his 20 points but probably gives up 30

                    • Well, Sheila appears to be the only one that gives a fuck.

Illitch is more interested in maximizing profit while minimizing payroll, and Gores is no doubt getting ready to flip this asset that he's bled all profitability from.

                      • Sell the team chants were loud.

I feel bad for Cunningham. He really took it hard tonight. The team is so bad that it's very hard to see that he is carrying the team because it doesn't translate into wins The bottom absolutely falls out when he has to go to the bench. So they respond playing him 38-40 minutes a game. And they are hard minutes, because the teams could give a shit about the other players.

                          • A team with pieces like Duren, Ivey, Cunningham, and Thompson should be better than this. It probably wouldn't reflect too much in the standings (because ya know... young kids aren't going to translate to wins right away)... but there's just no connective tissue on this team. They've got a bunch of young "core" pieces that are still trying to figure out how they can fit together, and the bench behind them doesn't have the experience to fill in the gaps, or are absolutely worthless. Weaver's hard on for big men wouldn't have made sense even during the era where big men were dominant (because none of them can really shoot or play defense), and make even less sense in an era where speed and movement kills.

You have to decide if the Pistons are still actively tanking, then ask what the fuck they think they are still missing that they need to tank for, or Weaver is that absolutely clueless about building a team... then ask how the hell no one noticed how absolutely terrible of an evaluator he was until the Pistons hired him. Because this isn't simply a case of bad beats. This is Matt Millen levels of incompetence. Yet someone this absolutely terrible at his job somehow managed to survive in NBA front offices for damn near two decades without anyone realizing, "Holy hell, this guy is a fucking idiot."

                            • At this point Weaver has Millen, Quinn and Avila beaten at worst GM ever by Secretariat at the Belmont levels.

                              • Last night the.Pistons started fairly good, at one point they were up 8 in then 1st quarter. The Jazz called a timeout and quickly went on a big run to put themselves up 10. The.Jazz never gave up the lead. It got me thinking during this streak, how many minutes have they had a lead? It can't be many. The first game they blew a huge lead against the Blazers, but.simce.then the Pistons are generally always playing from behind.
