  • I guess the Spurs gave up future 2nds in the trade, but eh. The opportunity to obtain an unprotected future 1st is so valuable.

Pistons - $30M for Joe Harris + Monte Morris + one future 2nd.
    vs
Spurs - $10M + future 2nds for Reggie Bullock + one future unprotected 1st swap.

Clearly love what the Spurs are getting here. Bullock actually plays D and has good 3PT stats if anyone cares about the meaningless expiring contracts. Give me that possible unprotected 1st swap!!!

You don't make a trade for Harris unless you talked to other FAs and they indicated they weren't coming.

          • Whitley will carry.the water for.any franchise. The Harris trade was bad in the same way the Burks/Noel trade was bad last year. You are helping out rivals and getting a pupu platter in return.

            • Damn, if Duren can expand his offense to consistently do that… Pistons might have something special in him.

Meanwhile Ivey acting like he spent the offseason studying Jaylen Brown handles and re-watching Purdue vs Saint Peters.

New CBA requires teams to be at the floor after Day 1 of FA instead of Day 1 of reg.season.

Maybe so but this isn’t a news flash for GMs. We had a massive amount of cap space and plenty of time to formulate a plan. It’s sad that we couldn’t have gotten a better player or better compensation.

                      • And even if true, maybe that means you shouldn't be running your franchise so cheaply that you have to desperately make a panic move to get to the minimum salary before a deadline.

It's in the NBA CBA but I had the exact dates wrong. Previous CBA you had to be at the floor by last day of the reg,. season. Current CB you have to be there on Day 1 of the reg. season. Big change and since there is usually very little left after the NBA FA feeding frenzy in essence be t the floor after Day 1 of FA.

One of the seconds that came with Harris they shipped out for Monte Morris.

                            • The only thing I have seen is you have to be at the floor at the start of the season or you can't get competitive balance revenue sharing. So that has nothing to do with why they had to trade for Harris. It was a bad trade. They could've made the trade today. The price for helping the Nets should have been much higher than the paltry two second.round picks. Quit helping out rivals for pupu platters.

                              • For the record,.if you under the floor you do not have to sign anyone. The difference between floor and the team salary cap is simply dlshared between players on the roster.
