Either the Pistons or Red Wings could do it this season. Just depends how things gel. In the NHL, the system can lead to regular season success. The Pistons have talent ... it's just about how soon it comes togetherWHO CARES why it says paper jam when there is no paper jam?

No. 1 Ferris State dodges SVSU upset bid ... again
Saginaw Valley State University's end zone at Wickes Stadium. By Hugh Bernreuter | hbernreu@mlive.com
For the second consecutive season, Saginaw Valley State University had everything in place to upset Ferris State.
And for the second consecutive season, Ferris State wiggled out of the upset.
Ferris, the No. 1-ranked team and defending Division II national champion, scored with 1:11 remaining in the game to snare a 33-28 win Saturday at SVSU.
Ferris, which beat SVSU 47-45 in overtime in 2021, led 20-7 after one quarter. But the 4-2 Cardinals scored the next 21 points to take a 28-20 lead into the fourth quarter.
Ferris State kicker Vincent Cooley cut the lead to 28-23 with a 25-yard field goal, but SVSU maintained the five-point lead until the final minutes. Ferris converted a pair of fourth downs inside the SVSU 5-yard line, including on fourth-and-goal from the 1. Carson Gulker ran in the 1-yard TD to give Ferris a 31-28 lead with 1:11 remaining.
In its final drive, SVSU went backwards, starting at its own 14. Two sacks led to a Ferris safety for a final 33-28 win.
Ferris State scored three TDs in the first quarter on a 25-yard run by Zamir Knighten, a 79-yard pass from Evan Cummins to Marcus Taylor and a 6-yard pass from Cummins to CJ Jefferson. SVSU countered with a 43-yard TD pass from Andrew Brito to Nick Johnson.
SVSU dominated the second and third quarters, scoring on a 29-yard pass from Brito to Earnest Sanders IV and a 1-yard TD run by Brito to take a 21-20 lead into halftime. The Cardinals built on the lead with another 1-yard TD run by Brito in the third.
But the Ferris defense shut out the Cardinals in the fourth, giving the offense time to catch up.
Brito completed 11 of 21 passes for 168 yards, while Isaiah Malcome led the SVSU ground game with 44 yards on 17 carries. Sanders led the receivers with four catches for 62 yards.
Trevor Nowaske paced the SVSU defense with 15 tackles and an interception, while Michael Woolridge added 10 tackles.
Cummins completed 8 of 15 passes for 199 yards, adding 79 yards rushing for Ferris, which is 5-0 overall. Saturday’s game was the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener for the Bulldogs.
Brandon Childress caught three passes for 92 yards for Ferris, with Cyntell Williams making 10 tackles to lead the Ferris defense.
SVSU, which owns a two-game losing streak after losing to Grand Valley State, returns to Wickes Stadium for its homecoming game at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 against Indianapolis.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

Troy Weaver seems to be adding talent, seems to win almost all of the trades he makes, but it hasn't added up to wins yet....I don't know if the rest of the league just gets that much better or what the missing factor is.....It might be they are just too young and need 2-3 more years before a playoff win is a possibility.

The league is a lot more talented than it was 10 seasons ago.
It isn't about Cade, look at the Cavs, their total is 41.5 and they are much farther along. The days of having one star drag a team into the playoffs seem long ago. Some team in the East is going to be in the playin games with an all NBA player.
