At this point I think Monroe likely walks, and I don't blame him. I hope he'll give SVG a couple years to right the ship. But he's been in this hell for his entire career, and I'm sure he would love to land on a stable, contending team.

They can always pay more for Monroe, but I think it is likely they lose him. It is kind of shame since the Pistons have somewhat figured out the formula with Drummond and Monroe. You can kind of see the framework of what Stan Van Gundy can build with those two. A framework that wasn't readily apparent for the whole of Monroe and Drummond's career. Both guys would pile up a lot of empty stat nights, not really a fault of theirs more of the situation.
If they kept him, you can see what he Van Gundy might ty to get. Some better perimeter defense.

This team now plus a healthy Jennings, a new starting SF and a new backup PG, that can both defend and shoot the 3 ball. That team would be a formidable team.. especially with the continued growth from Drummond (and KCP to a lesser extent).Rashean Mathis: "I'm an egg guy. Last year we didn't have (the omelet station). I agree with nhw...Monroe can put up numbers at times but he isnt really a dominant force that wins games.....Im surprised more teams cant figure out that hes left handed and goes to his left almost every time.....His lack of athleticism and mediocre defense are a problem also....Hes a nice player but not 15 million a year plus worthy.....Get what you can for him and move on.

I got mixed emotions about Monroe.
Yeah, he's a pretty good player. Good numbers. Not easy replacing a big who gives you 15 & 10 every night. That said, he has been the center piece for a team that hasn't won more than 30 games since he has been here. This is year number five for Monroe.
30-52
25-41 (strike shortened season)
29-53
29-53
21-33 (currently season)
Obviously all the losing can't be pinned solely on Monroe, but with that said, he sure hasn't made a difference whatsoever in the win column. If he bails I'm going to lose zero sleep over it.AAL: KhaDarel Hodges
