Mathurin is pretty legit too. He finishes at the rim like the defense told a 'yo mama so fat" joke. I wouldn't mind the pickF#*K OHIO!!!

I view Mathurin as a rich man’s version of KCP coming out of college. Which could be a nice piece next to Cade. Basically a pure SG with better shooting statistics and slightly better athleticism than KCP the draft prospect.
The bubble Lakers won a championship with KCP as a complimentary starter as a 3 & D piece of the puzzle.
If you look at how the Mavs built around Luka (if comparing Cade to Luka), having a few 3 & D starters is essential.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

I like how much of the Mavs team is composed, but they’re missing another star… Perhaps a big. The role player component is right. Brunson might be more ideal as the 3rd best player on a contending team rather than the 2nd best. I still really like Brunson and the Pistons would have to overpay to get him.

I’m surprisingly warning up to Mathurin a little. That TCU vs Arizona game. Whoa, Mathurin. Love the combination of shooting, high-end athleticism, and energy.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

The Mavericks did get to the conference finals, but it was basically all Luka. There hasn't been much building. They traded Porzingis as a quasi-salary dump to go all Luka and Dimwiddie came around in Dallas. But that team is terrible defensively. Until that improves they are pretenders.
People make the comp of Luka to Cade but I don't see Cade as a ball dominant, helio-centric player like Luka. If you are looking to a team as a blueprint, look to the Warriors and how they play. Get some dawgs on defense.

GS shoots like no team ever but yeah they hustle on D as well. Curry sets the pace for the whole team. Draymond is a special piece as well. He’s a fantastic player on the court but he also brings that Bill Laimbeer grit that no one is messing with in the locker room.
That team was put together and gelled so wellF#*K OHIO!!!

This playoffs the Warriors have been shooting like shit from beyond the arc. I think the last three opponents have been better than them shooting threes. They have gotten by with defense and rebounding. Offensively they have attacked the paint even though they are really small because of Curry's gravity.
When I say look to the Warriors I mean these things
1. Offensively they move without the ball better than any team in the NBA. The Pistons with Cunningham can do the same thing, he can attack from all angles of the court.
2. Defensively they are are one of the top teams in the NBA and they create turnovers to fuel their fast break. The Pistons need great two way players. Any of these draft picks should be focused on how well the defense projects at the next level. Anyone who wants Sharpe or Ivey needs to look at that.

I was meaning more as a body of work for GS. Yes eventually they’ll take a few steps backwards but they’ve reinvented the game once they took over
Draymond is going to do what he does. Sometimes it will backfire but it’s like Artest. The other team is always thinking about him and he’s a handful when he’s motivated properly. Granted he’s not the headcase Artest was but they’re both incredible players
I wanted Detroit to draft him that year. I’m glad they didn’t as I don’t think GS becomes GS without himF#*K OHIO!!!
