  • Wow, that is sad. I never saw a football game there, but I saw a lot of concerts...I think...
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

    • I was in the upper deck the last time we (sorry, Gonz) won a playoff game.

      • I saw a Pistons game there once. And I'm glad I was able to see a Lions game in their final year there. I thought it had been torn down when I heard they were selling the seats. Guess not. Crazy.

        • Saw barry and favre play at my one silverdome experience. Driving to my one FF experience, we passed
The silverdome. Weeds were four feet tall in the parking lot. Sad. And i need to get out more.

          Edit :both were wins.

Iirc: silverxdome game we beat gb getting into the playoffs, where the next week gb knocked us out.

FF game was against the bears a few years ago...... and the crowd was a huge factor in causing false starts. Was a beat down.

          • The thing I'll remember most about the Silverdome were the doors going in and out of the stadium. So windy.

It didn't then, and doesn't now make sense to me that the roof had zero structure. It was actually held up by air.

            • Yeah, I remember the windy doors.

Best games I ever saw there were the Monday Night game vs the 49ers in 1995 and the Thanksgiving game against the Bears in 1997 when we blew them out of the building 55-20. I remember a game vs Indy when Barry had 200+ yards.

              • I was there for the playoff win against the Cowboys
I was there for the Jets game when Barry rushed for 2000
Lots of great memories in that place
I love the way the whole building shook when the crowd got loud

                • Yep, the dome was absolutely thunderous when the Lions were rolling. One of my favorites was a Thursday night game vs the Packers when Barry ripped off 2 80 yard TDs, though one was called back on a terrible holding call.

                  • I saw a lot of Lions games there. I lived a half hour south of Toledo and all the games were blacked out. I also saw several Who concerts there. My favorite though was seeing Dr. J against the Pistons.

I was there too in 1997, National TV game broadcast by NBC when they had the AFC package.

I think that was the game in which a Lion player had to retire due to a near fatal injury.

I could Google it, but I'll let someone else look it up.
