I hated Millen as an announcer..

      • If the answer was ever Matt Patricia, then whatever it was was a really stupid question.

        • First play of the game for Carolina was an interception by Will Harris. I suspect the smart play in our weekly pick-em league is to pick the team playing Carolina.

            • My wife volunteers for Son of a Saint. They provide mentors, tutors, and all sorts of activities for boys who don't have a father in their lives. (Some have died, some just left, and some are incarcerated.) We were at their building Monday for a photography exhibit for the kids who just finished a photography class. While we were talking to some people who work at Son of a Saint, my wife mentioned that she was driving some kids home from "Anime Class" the next night. I said, "Anime class? What do they do there?" They told us they just had a debate the kids had to prepare for to make the case for why their favorite anime character is the best. "In fact, there's a player for the Saints who's really into anime. He showed up for the debate and was really into it." I said, "That has to be Jamaal Williams." Yep. Then the guy who teaches the cooking classes chimed in and said Jamaal shows up out of the blue sometimes to hang out with the kids. He never publicizes it - just talks with them, plays some video games, and chills.

(Here's why the organization is called Son of a Saint: "Bivian Lee, Jr., was an NFL defensive back for the New Orleans Saints from 1971 to 1975. Tragically, in 1984 Bivian died at the young age of 36 after suffering a heart attack. He left behind a wife, a five-year-old daughter, Tamica, and a three-year-old son, Bivian “Sonny” Lee, III.

In turn, Sonny, then 29, founded Son of a Saint on January 1, 2011, in honor of his late father and single mother. Inspired by this journey, Sonny decided to create a support system for young boys in New Orleans who had lost their fathers due to various circumstances.")

Hey, whatever_gong, nice to see you. Landry helped Scott Mitchell a lot, as I recall. May he rest in peace.

I have a very warm spot for those early 70s teams

DITTO! Greg was a decent QB on shitty teams.

I didn't know about this because I wasn't watching (or paying attention to) NFL football back then, but WCF Sr. basically criticized Landry as a player back in the day, leading to Landry eventually being traded to the old Baltimore Colts in the late '70s.

Ironic, since WCF Sr. couldn't spot a great Head Coach if he worked for the organization. Oh, wait, Don Shula was our Defensive Coordinator and WCF Sr. thought that he was 'too young' or something to that effect. Man, I'm glad that his daughter is running things. He was, without a doubt, one of the worst Professional Sports Owners ever.

Tom Gores of the Detroit Pistons is giving him a run for his money in abject incompetence though.

Agreed. I wasn't happy when we didn't get him back, but understand fully that we can't keep them all and credit Holmes for knowing exactly where to go for replacing his talent. Montgomery doesn't have his personality, but he's been very solid for us.
