I've got a complete asshole for an uncle who claims to have been a Beatles fan all his life and was devastated when Lennon was shot dead......., No he wasn't...., my mother told me he never owned any Beatles Recordings while growing up and was probably in prison for car theft when Lennon was shot, mouthing off to some prison warden, devastated because he wasn't down the pub.
My point is, are there people throughout the years who have just jumped on this Beatles bandwagon because its hip or cool? It's feckin annoying. I wish ALL radio stations would leave it now and move on.
I can totally go the rest of my life without hearing another Beatles song.

CGVT and FROOT LOOPS mocked me recently for not admitting to knowing some old Beatle song and I didn't reply bcz I didn't know the song nor did I care to find out why I should have known it (just bcz they were the shitty Beatles).

I like one, 1, Beatles song. I posted it in this thread but I can't even think of the name of it right now. That's how big a fan I am of their collective works.

I was born in 67 and by then creepers like Black Sabaath and other heavy metal bands I look back to as the prime music of the 60's is where my loyalty still stands.

I did work as an accountant for several years at (the) Abbey Road Distributors in the 1990's

        Which one?

Fallon's Morrison impression was awesome and they really went all out making it seem authentic and from that era.

If you mean the Alice in Chains clip, man, I'm on a AIC kick lately. In a dark place right now and they're the soundtrack for it...

          • I always think of this song when I think of some of those cheese-metal 80's bands (like Poison or Warrant). I'm pretty damn sure Soundgarden was poking fun at them.

I do Marko think they are a tad overrated too, I admire some of their songs, but I have never had the urge to buy a Beatles album. Bob Marley too, just never had the urge to get into him.

                • I still can't believe how good Fallon did "the Doors". Crazy how much he sounded like Morrison. Singing "A Reading Rainbow" was brilliant. Took a kids show theme and owned it.

George Harrison is my favorite and he's one of a kind. Lennon and McCartney are good also. Most of the stuff I like is the stuff these three did on their own after the Beatles broke up. "Something" by the Beatles is one of my favorite all-time songs though. It's perfect. Here's some songs you may enjoy if you've never heard them by these three and the Beatles -

                          • Have you seen the Concert for George, Han? McCartney & Clapton perform Something, and the harmonies make me break down in tears every single time I hear it. That song never really did it for me until I saw that performance. That DVD is a must own for any George Harrison fans.

I love the Beatles, and Harrison & Lennon's solo work (Faul was a cheeseball IMO), but I like their obscure stuff way more than the hits.

No, I haven't seen it. I'll have to check it out. Funny that the song is about the girl Clapton stole from Harrison.

                              • Love the Beatles. You don't hear them much on the radio anymore. You still hear a lot of Stones stuff. Its always hard to judge the groups of the 60's the farther you get away from them, the stiff they were doing was cutting edge at the time. Sometimes it might seem a tad dated now.

Don't care much for the Lennon solo stuff. It has its moments but I do like most of the Paul McCartney stuff. In my opinion Lennon kind of lost it after the Beatles breakup moreso than McCartney. But they kind of needed each other along with George Martin to temper each others excesses.
