That Bono and Edge performance on Letterman was great! I recently saw the documentary It Might Get Loud:

"...this fascinating profile of three contemporary guitarists: Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, U2's The Edge and Jack White of the White Stripes. Each talks about their creative process, technique and influences as cameras follow them to key locations in their own music history. A jam session featuring all three musicians is woven into their discussions."

It gave me a new respect for The Edge.

Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake revisited the History of Rap last week. What really strikes me is how freaking awesome The Roots are to be able to do all these songs so well.

The Edge was never considered anything but a bad guitarist by most "talking heads" for most of his U2 career. Now he's on a marquee with his contemporaries. LOFL

I've been a U2 fan since they were a nobody band masquerading in the early days in the U.S. as a christian-rock band making late night airwaves on KROQ in So Cal in 1980. Been a fan ever since and have always considered Dave Evans unique in his live guitar work. I first saw them at the US Festival in So Cal and then at many other venues. I am not a religious person in any way but I have a youth filled with forced Catholic Church activities and the way I describe a U2 concert to those that have never seen them is it is like a religious experience. More so as they became popular and the entire crowd knew every word to every song to join in. They are a crazy good band and their longevity bares that out.

I sort of get P.O.'d at Paul Hewson a lot since he became so politically active in U.S. politics and his growing attempts at bullying U.S. taxpayers to do more for others around the world. Feel free to donate your entire fortune on behalf of your causes BONO, don't squeeze our politicians for your causes. But then I hear his musical chops and I forget for a moment, again and again.
