    • Really weird song to dance to as it starts out a slow dance and then moves into a free style..................

        • You have to actually interact with women if you want to get laid Loops. I always got/get a kick out of the guys who stand up near the bar staring at the dance floor with a macho look on their face waiting for a woman to come up to them and say "you're such a stud will you fuck me". In the mean time I was actually interacting with women and I got laid.

          • Is that how you do it DanO? Ha! I'm not debating your prowess or anything like that, just the two songs I've seen you mention as dance songs Stairway to Heaven and Free Bird are just not the songs I picture people dancing to. Those are the songs I picture clearing the dance floor. But I'm sure you also cut the rug on the Grease songs as well.

            • I love that Estranged video. So much weird symbolism with it, that unless you remember the times it really has to look utterly crazy. And Axl Rose is just that utterly crazy. I think that was the end of the huge rock band era. ( minute song, 9 minute video and it was played both on the radio and MTV. That video serves as a postcard of another era.

I don't think there has been a band since that has the requisite meglamania needed to be the biggest band in the world. In the end GNR couldn't keep it together, but they captured the imagination for a couple of years. That was pretty much the end of these huge bands that could sell out stadiums and more importantly wanted to sell out these stadiums. The grunge bands could but their heart wasn't in it and since then there hasn't been any new band that could capture the imagination. Its why the NFL has to trot out 60 year olds to play haltime shows.
I've heard people call the arrangements for Estranged and November Rain as Beatle-esqe. I just know I enjoy them. For me the lyrics to Estranged connect on a few levels. I do seem to be drawn to songs that build to moments. i.e.

              • My vote for biggest band with just a touch of the megalomania would have to be U-2. They got pretty full of themselves for quite a while.

                  • Yeah but U2 isn't new. That Bad performance pissed off the bandmates. They weren't able to play Pride at Live Aid because of Bono's extended walk. They thought it was a disaster but didn't realize how it kind of stole the show until later.

----------------------------I understand you weren't debating my "prowess". I wasn't trying to promote it. You don't "see" those songs as dance songs. That's fine. Every song is an "opportunity" to take advantage of. That being said I'm so far removed from those times I've reverted back to being a pacifist.

                            • "Cut the rug" seems like such an odd phrase as it's easier to dance on a smooth surface.
