hey now, don't be a hater. ;) Ani's no slouch, she's been cranking out albums for 20 years. She rarely does covers, but a few months back she was playing a benefit (I forget which one) and Tim Robbins (yes, the actor) taught her how to play Angel from Montgomery. As much as I love John Prine, the man's voice is GONE.

My husband assumed that Ani was an angry man-hater for YEARS and refused to listen to any of her music. I knew that he would like her if he ever gave her a chance, so I finally dragged him to one of her shows a couple of years ago, and he was hooked. Now he pulls out her concert dvd's more often than I do. I think it kills him to admit that she's a better guitar player than he is, though. heh heh. In fact, he admitted to me that this might be his favorite f*ck you song of all time. She's never acknowledged publicly who this song is about, but I've heard speculation that it is about Eddie Vedder, as they are buds.

oh, by the way, how was that Ray LaMontagne show? He is playing here this summer at a really cool venue that I've never been to before, and tickets go on sale this weekend - I'm tempted to check him out.
