  • I always thought Cobain's most haunting lyric sung was his cover of "Man who sold the earth"

    Oh no
    Not me
    I never lost control

Mainstream ended up loving it, Cobain put a shotgun in his mouth.

Dude was never meant to be famous. Didn't have the emotional makeup to handle it.

It's a shame. I can see him using his beautiful voice more, and writing from a mellow state of mind if he survived his disease.

I think they would have been softer ala "MTV Unplugged".

          My opinion.

Come on you don't believe this do you? Nirvana was just as packaged as the hair bands. They got over just like the hair bands but in a different package.

One of those rare performances where the cover destroyed the original.

Nirvana's reign lasted 3 studio albums (1 B-side album) and ending with the Lead Singer blowing his head off. Cobain was as weird, withdrawn, talent. He had a great voice, great music/lyrics, and crazy as they come.

Mainstream or not, you don't get much more hardcore than Kurt Cobain.

              He is a Legend.

              Watch.

Packaged by a label that knew they just hit a goldmine. Cobain made "In Utero" to piss off label and rid himself of his "Super Stardom". It backfired, they got even bigger and he got more depressed.

Cobain had influences from every genre. "Grunge" was people that felt inferior.

              Cobain was punk.

                              • Linda Ronstadt has Parkinson's Disease
Brian Mansfield, Special for USA TODAY 6:20 p.m. EDT August 23, 2013
The Grammy-winning singer revealed her condition to AARP Friday.

The 11-time Grammy winner was diagnosed eighth months ago but may have had symptoms for years
Ronstadt's memoir, Simple Dreams, comes out Sept. 17
Her hits include "You're No Good," "Don't Know Much" and "Hurts So Bad"

Parkinson's Disease has left Linda Ronstadt unable to sing.

The 67-year-old singer, who will publish her memoir, Simple Dreams, next month, revealed her condition Friday in an interview with AARP.

The singer of such '70s and '80s hits as You're No Good, Hurt So Bad and Don't Know Much now uses poles to assist her when walking on uneven ground and travels with a wheelchair. She says she was diagnosed with the neurological disorder eight months ago, though she began experiencing symptoms, including hand tremors and trouble controlling the muscles that let her sing, several years ago. She says she initially attributed her problems to the residual effects of a tick bite and shoulder surgery.

"I think I've had it for seven or eight years already, because of the symptoms that I've had," the 11-time Grammy winner tells interviewer Alanna Nash. Ronstadt's last album was 2006's Adieu False Heart with Cajun musician Ann Savoy.

"No one can sing with Parkinson's disease," she says. "No matter how hard you try."
