  • I think Poison has had more staying power than Nirvana. You don't really hear many Nirvana songs on the radio. I thought they were really overrated. Sure you hear the music critics continue to fluff them. It would have been interesting to see if they could have evolved.

The artist in me likes to believe if they got Cobain's depression and substance abuse under control he would have been even better.

I write, sing, and play music and I'm better at all three when I'm not using or depressed (I suffer from the same depression as Cobain - Genetic, many other family members).

I am pretty mellow these days and drug-free. I am also hitting my creative peak.

Wish he could have got there.

No cure for depression (especially major/severe depression), but there is treatment that has really improved since he was here.

      RIP Kurt Cobain. :(

      • I just didn't think they were all that creative. To me a little more style than substance. Put it this way, I have Nevermind, it was a good album, but its not an album that I listen to now. I don't thnk its aged all that well. There are about 4 or 5 albums from that time period I listen to constantly and that ain't one of them.

            Agree to Disagree.

In my opinion, 50 years from now, he's remembered in the same breath as Lennon, Hendrix, etc.

His unplugged set has aged as well as anything from that era.

            Just an opinion.

Also, most of Nirvana's best songs weren't even on Nevermind.

Rarely do music critics like crummy artists. And I literally had to google FM radio to find out if it still exists. And google said it didn't care.

                  • I also find it funny that people refer to Nirvana as "Grunge", or that they are the band that started it.

Nirvana is a punk band plain and simple to me.

                    • There's not many "punk bands" as punk as Nirvana were.

Even there last album was made with every intention of mainstream hating it.

Mainstream ended up loving it, Cobain put a shotgun in his mouth.

Dude was never meant to be famous. Didn't have the emotional makeup to handle it.

It's a shame. I can see him using his beautiful voice more, and writing from a mellow state of mind if he survived his disease.

I think they would have been softer ala "MTV Unplugged".

                      My opinion.
