I'm in this video! That was one of my best concert experiences. I say concert because they played live (a lot of songs they played twice), even though they were shooting the video in a warehouse.
It was awesome, though. My first week in LA and a girl comes up to me and two of my friends and asks us if we want to be in a music video. We ask "What band?" and find out it's RATM. I'd been listening to them all summer and had seen them at Lollapalooza so I was a "Hell Yes!" to her question.
Only one of my friends could go and we went down somewhere sketchy (I think it was in the City of Industry) but found the warehouse and were there for the whole video shoot. It was supposed to be for the song "Bombtrack" but I guess they changed their minds. There were maybe 60 of us that were to be the crowd so my friend Keith and I stood right up in front for the most part and had a great time. The stage wasn't that high so I wound up having bruises on my upper shins for a couple of days.
It was a great experience. We were a little bummed when the video came out because we'd figured we'd be all over it since we were up front (did a few stage dives too) for the whole shoot. Still, it remains in my top 3 concert experiences.
The video kind of wound up being a classic, after they put in the Leonard Peltier message.

What's great (for me) about this Screen Cap is that that's my leg on stage and my buddy Keith's face behind the "Play" arrow.
My hair is covering my face there.
I think the best blur of me is around the 1:22 to 1:24 mark. As the camera goes over Zack's left shoulder, I appear in the bottom left of the screen and am raising my right hand. There's some other stuff where I see my reflection in the rearview mirror that the drummer has but I'm pretty small there.
The latest RHCP album is a grower. I didn't think that much of it when it came out, but I've kind of started getting into it. Thats kind of the way I am about most of their albums. I've been on a big By the Way kick. Such a good album.

I haven't really giving the new RHCP a listen. I've been so bummed that John left the band again. This song is okay but there's nothing really distinct about Josh's playing on the track.
I kind of wish they had seen if Tom Morello was free. RATM doesn't seem to be doing much and I think that could've been an interesting mix.
I really like By The Way as well. By the Way, Dosed, Don't Forget Me, Can't Stop, and Minor Thing are my favorite songs on there but I like several others. I love the start of Venice Queen but then the transitions into something that's just okay.
I don't mind the new guitarist. I think Morello would be a disaster like Navarro was. In that band the guitarist needs to be the primary guy writing the music but he needs to be able to mix with Flea.
