Please support the Forum by using the Amazon Link this Holiday Season
Amazon has started their Black Friday sales and there are some great deals to be had! As you shop this holiday season, please consider using the forum's Amazon.com link (listed in the menu as "Amazon Link") to add items to your cart and purchase them. The forum gets a small commission from every item sold.
Additionally, the forum gets a "bounty" for various offers at Amazon.com. For instance, if you sign up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, the forum will earn $3. Same if you buy a Prime membership for someone else as a gift! Trying out or purchasing an Audible membership will earn the forum a few bucks. And creating an Amazon Business account will send a $15 commission our way.
If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!
Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. This does not cost you anything extra and it helps offset the operating costs of this forum, which include our hosting fees and the yearly registration and licensing fees.
Stay safe and well and thank you for your participation in the Forum and for your support!! --Deborah

We brought recently “Matilde “ to our home, Simon’s (my dog) mother as she is getting old and my father in law was being a bit negligent with her.
That to say that the story made me feel bad as I just reprehended both, as I left them alone today (wife is away) and found 4 big holes in the grass when I arrived home about an hour ago.Last edited by Septem; September 14, 2012, 02:21 PM.Gamer dad, like a normal dad, only much cooler / Gamers don't die they respawn

Give them a treat.
Go out into the yard and fill the holes.
Take them back out and when they start sniffing the fresh dirt, use verbal commands to tell them NO!
If they dig it up again, repeat.
Keep doing it until they understand what it is you want.
BTW, giving them a treat when you come home is not always necessary but, it does get their attention if you are trying to make a point.I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

Thanks for the tips Malto and Tony. Will try that next time I arrive home and have time to fill the holes right away.
That didn?t happen when Simon was alone. He used to stay a whole day free on your yard without behaving badly. The holes are a consequence of a pack attitude I guess, but there?s also another strong reason, we do have from time to time small moles on our garden? Pretty sure they feel them and try to dig to catch them?Gamer dad, like a normal dad, only much cooler / Gamers don't die they respawn

Moles will find a route that dogs are not involved.
If they are tracking moles, you will need to make sure the varmint has his main tunnel obstructed. Read: Try to block it off where it comes to your property but, allow the dogs to tear up any and all real estate they need to turn him away.
You can replant later when the varmint is gone.I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

Indeed. Maybe they will sort the moles problem for me...
That’s an up of having quite a few holes in my yard right now, moles decided to find a new place to dig their tunnels…Gamer dad, like a normal dad, only much cooler / Gamers don't die they respawn
