      • by any direction, he's a good looking perp. By "perp" I mean short for perpetrator. He'll be into some mischief soon! I can see it in his face.

Yeah. And a rescue as well. Any idea on what breed(s) yours is? Mine is a mystery.

They both look like English Pointers, but Baxter's on the smaller side for the breed (~40 lbs.).
                          How big/old is yours?

I was told @ 3.5 when I got him about 4 years ago. So he is going on 8. Original papers say Lab X Mix.

Closest in my daughter and my opinion that we have seen in appearance is indeed an english pointer. (Elhew to be precise).

Trapper is about 55 gangly, unweildy lbs.... but shouldn't be really quite that many!

But he has a short, curly tail, which is definitely NOT a trait for the English pointers as they were bred to have that long straight tail a hunter could see. Previous owners (real rescuers) thought he had more of a hound type mix in him. Some people say dalmation (but some people just think any dog with spots is dalmation....).

And actually, I do think maybe I see a difference in your guy's facial shape. Just a bit. But they do look very similar.

BTW, I get the impression the name Baxter stuck.

                              • Either way, you have a great looking dog Yeah, think we're sticking with Baxter, tho he doesn't speak Spanish...

Beagle or fox terrier is another idea (that either or both are mixed with).
Couldn't be happier with him so far; he's definitely been a great addition.
