So anyway , I took my dog Buster (going on 12) over the summer to the Vet. He bluntly told me to start Hills Science Diet ASAP and nothing else, if I want him to live longer -period. I asked about it once and he again said very seriously "its been proven"
OK, that's all he eats now, and its not cheap. Tuesday I again bought his treats from the link here Amazon called Nylabone Nutri Dent Extra Fresh, 50 Count - not cheap either, but (best price for these) for around $45. The same day a FB friend posted this, ...I was like oh great!
Do you give your dog any of these? Top Worst DOG Treats On The Market
Purina Waggin Train Chicken Jerky Tenders, Ol Roy, Alpo, Milk Bones, Bil-Jac, Beggin Littles, Hills Science Diet, Cesar Canine Cuisine, Pup-peroni, Beneful Baked, Beneful Healthy, Canine Carry Outs, Sentry Petrodex
I usually don't buy into this kinda stuff, thinking they just want my hard earned $$$ - But at this point with my buddy, I want him around as long as possible - whatever it takes as long as hes healthy happy. I do have a box of Milk Bone here, that is on that list.

Yeah, when my dog had cancer and wouldn't eat anything, I did a lot of research into dog food and the results were not pleasant. :( Another good site to check out: www.dogfoodadvisor.com

What's her name Brook?
Deb, unfortunately Goldens are one of the top breeds for cancer now. There's some research being done into why the breed has become so susceptible to it. I used to work with one of the golden rescue groups and finally gave up on the breed after my third golden with cancer. I've heard they are some times called cancer retrievers now. :-(Benny Blades~"If you break down this team man for man, we have talent to compare with any team."

Tony, as you can imagine, I became quite educated about Goldens and cancer when Sonny was going through it. The Cancer Center I took him to was full of Goldens each time, it was so heartbreaking. I'm also familiar with the cancer study you mentioned and my next Golden will be a part of it for sure. I read somewhere that basically at least one puppy per Golden litter will wind up with cancer. That's just terrible.
I am very fortunate that Reba has been so healthy since she came to live with me. She turned 12 over the summer and is still doing great!#birdsarentreal
