Long time lurker... figured I would post a couple pics of my new pup.
Her name is Samantha. She is a 4 month old Hound/Lab mix (adopted from the SPCA). She is a lazy and shy puppy that loves to cuddle. She has been a good dog from day 1 not chewing on anything but her toys and has only used the bathroom outside. I have her trained to ring a set of bells by the door whenever she wants to go outside. It can get annoying though.. whenever I am not paying attention to her she goes and rings the bells... so I am starting to wonder who is REALLY the trained one...!?
Beautiful pup! And so well behaved?! You picked a good one! Glad you were able to adopt her.

I have had our new pup for a bit over a year and there is not a day that we have had her that she has not made me laugh.
I am getting really attached to her and the rest of the household tells me she is super attached to me. (They tell me she whines for about 15 minutes after I leave for work in the morning and she can hear my car in the driveway before anyone else has a clue I might be home).
She greets me every day with a squeeky toy and we play for about 15-20 minutes after I get home then she is ready to go outside and stalk squirrels (although, the squirrels have a ball teasing the hell out of her).
I am already dreading the day when I have to say goodbye because she has added so much joy to my daily routine.

I know what you mean Malto. Shadow, our lab, sleeps at the head of the Bed almost every night. He puts his head on my pillow, right next to mine, and we snooze.
The best part of every day are those moments with Shadow head snuggling. He's almost 13 now and I can't believe he will be gone one day.

That is awful Drew. Losing a friend like that is always tough. A very touching write up as well. I'm glad that you never took those moments for granted, it is such and everyday thing, basking in the sunrays, but those are the moments that make your friend who he is. I know he will be missed.
