Welcome Australian Lion!
Congratulations on your upcoming marriage but, your bride might well question your logic on honeymoon stops.
I am a lifelong local.
I would suggest staying downtown for the Lions game then a B&B in Ypsilanti or Ann Arbor for the Michigan game if you are going to attend that one also.
Thanksgiving day tickets are always a premium and that includes the scalpers on the streets until about 5 minutes after the game starts then the scalpers will play let's make a deal. If you are going through the expense of flying in and getting accommodations, I would suggest purchasing the tickets ahead of time (the beginning of training camp is when I would start checking them out).
Downtown has your choice of 3 Casinos and several 4 and 5 star properties.
The metro area has a plithoria of things to see and do so you might want to go somewhere other than downtown a day or so after the game.
As mentioned, since we are the "Motor Capitol of the World" Mass transit has not been something that has been embraced or developed. There are buses but, the service is not reliable. Uber and Lyft would be your friend.
I can also tell you the Ohio State game will be at a premium and you should find them online and early.
If you have any other questions, chime in and, glad to see you onboard.
