I can ask any football fan in So Cal who they would prefer and I would say about 75% have their eyes light up when talking about BARRY SANDERS. While everyone appreciates the EMMITT SMITH career, when given a chance to choose between the two, its not even close.

I think we also have to talk about the teams themselves when having this discussion. Lets be honest, you put Barry on that Cowboy's team in the 90's and he rushes for 1800+ every season easily. That offensive line along with their receivers and tight end took alot of pressure off of Emmitt. There were a couple years when Barry did have Herman Moore and Brett Perriman to help but I honetly think Barry would have destroyed Payton's record if he was in Dallas for those 10 years....no question about it. Barry was the best ever, period. Just my thoughts though...
ah ha I misread thinking it was a series of of three :P
Barry.
Emmitt? would anyone take him over barry!
Thanks all for the welcome.
geez I used to be stationed in new Mexico and everyone there is a cowboy fan.... Ugh.... The biggest part of their argument was to say "look at the rings". I remember the big mural of barry on the building downtown..... I miss the guy so much
I don't even know if I am ready to talk about it.....
Those are the idiots you have to remind that the question isn't, "What TEAM would you rather have to win a Super Bowl, Dallas Cowboys or Detroit Lions?", the question is actually, "What NFL running back would you rather have if you had a choice, BARRY SANDERS or EMMITT SMITH?".

Just a guess on my part and stirring the pot once again. (Hey kids, jambalaya is almost ready.........;-))
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.
1. Patrick Peterson Cornerback LSU
2. Mark Herzlich Outside Linebacker Boston College
3. John Moffitt Center Wisconsin
4. Steve Schilling Guard Michigan
5. Jeremy Kerley Wide Receiver TCU
6. Carl Johnson Tackle Florida
7. Johnny Patrick Cornerback Louisville
Yea, I think you can bring the team, its achievements... or lack thereof, into the conversation... but halfback V(not "ver" :P) halfback, well you know.
Sup, fellow Lions fans. JellyBean here. Like other teams, I knew that the Lions had to have a forum. So I went to google and came across this forum, and I am very happy to see that we have a nice fan base.
