I hear ya, SLF. In the extras on the disc it's noted that a lot of Kung Fu fans wanted a rematch of Jet Li and Donnie Yen, which was an awesome scene in the flick. I'm kind of iffy on wire work, depending on how it's done. I thought it was great in The Matrix, you still had a sense of a body's mass when they changed direction. Not so much with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Hero would have been better if I didn't have to read the whole damn movie.

Cleaver idea but you really have to be motivated and enjoy martial arts to grasp the whole concept.

I give it 2.5 out of 4 stars

Sometimes I wonder how much cultural differences play a part in enjoyment of a flick as well, Coach.

Sometimes I'll watch a Kurosawa flick and wonder if the Japanese appreciate occasional overacting. I really like his flicks, but sometimes... just sometimes...

I just discovered the FREE On-Demand movies that my digital cable provider offers through HBO, Showtime, and Skinemax. Awesome! Watched The Last Samurai on Friday. I thought Tom Cruise did a good job, but thought the plot had a lot of holes.

          What a sad story. :(

I thought Tom Cruise was decent in that one as well, Deb. It certainly was a beautiful looking flick, I saw it in the theater. While I like Tom Cruise in general, this flick almost looked like it was re-written to conform to his star status. I thought the ending was way over the top, it would have worked more for me if he'd been killed as well.

Have you watched Collateral yet? Despite plot holes and implausibilities, I quite enjoyed it. Jamie Foxx is getting great notice for his role and it's well deserved. However, I thought Cruise was excellent in this flick as well.

Yep, it came out last week, Deb. I just watched The Manchurian Cnadidate. Meh. I much prefer the original, although Liev Schreiber and Denzel were good in it. I thought Meryl Streep was over the top, but that might just be me.

I stayed up last night and watched "Monsters Ball" on A&E....I really enjoyed it.

I can see why Halle Berry won the Oscar for it.

The movie that I cant wait to buy is AnchorMan. That was one of the funniest movies that i've seen in a long long time.

What did you guys think of the new King Arthor movie?

I haven't watched it yet, Jaadam. I'm waiting for anchorman as well. I'd read a few of the gags Will Ferrell delivers and they sound pretty funny. I think it comes out in video this week, doesn't it?

I saw I Heart Huckabees at $1 night. I really enjoyed it. Good, quirky fun with a great cast. I had never seen Jason Schwartzman before so I looked him up and see that he's related to the Coppolas and Nicolas Cage. He was very cute.

Picked up a used copy of this during the holiday break for $5 to check out the commentary, etc.

If you pick up the Anchorman DVD at Best Buy, you should be able to score a copy with an exclusive bonus disc shrinkwrapped to the back of the package (and if you pick up the deluxe set, you still get the bonus disc, for a grand total of three DVDs).

Speaking of discount cinemas, I was hoping to check out a couple of budget movies during my vacation, but had no time... I miss second-run theatres, which were much more common here just a few years ago.
