          • I saw the new X-men movie a few days ago. I give it a 6. I don't regret seeing it but I wouldn't tell someone they had to see it.

            • Damn! That one too? Wow, those were both movies that I was interested in seeing because of the hype but it sounds like hollywood needs to get its shit together

              • I've thought that for a while. With the advent of a good home theater set up a movie has to truly be noteworthy to get me to drop prime time bucks to go see one.

Star Trek was my last theater flick and I saw it on IMAX (awesome)

                • So tell me movie buffs, is the 3d craze about to shit the bed (again)?

I don't see near the hype that I saw for it not too long ago. It doesn't seen as if there are as many commercials pushing it for home tv/theater systems as the were.

I fucking hope so. I don't mind if for the occasional theater movie, but oveall I don't like it. It gives me a headache.

                  • Well I just bought a 55 inch 3D tv.I love it. There are only 2 3d channels as of right now, espn and xfinity. I will tell you that the sports games in 3d are awesome. I know FOX and a few other channels are supposed be broadcasting in 3d by this fall. Some of the movies channels will show some 3d movies here and there. I think the craze just died down a little bit because of the lack of vareity of television.

                    • I'm not a big fan of stuff flying out of the screen 3d. It's gimmicky and doesn't add much to the movie for me.

But I think 3d can Provide an incredibly immersive experience. I saw an IMAX film on the Hubble telescope and it felt like I was there. I've heard the same thing happens with Werner Herzogs new movie about the French cave paintings.

Thats the future of 3d IMO

I'm thinking the craze is dying down because of the reason SLF mentions below and there isn't much programming because people aren't calling for it (at least I hope that is the case)

I agree with your assessment, SLF.

For certain things it is amazing, but for everyday viewing I find it a nuisance.

                            • I know I am a little late but, I saw Thor last week and thought it was much better than I expected it would be. My daughter really wants to see X-Men so, we are going tomorrow afternoon. I heard it was good but no ground-breaking developments.

                              • I'd see X-Men just for the James McAvoy factor.

The Switch was better than I thought it would be. The interaction between Jason Bateman and the kid totally made the movie.

Saw Restrepo not that long ago. Very powerful. Someone (Nick?) said they thought it should've won the Oscar over Inside Job and I have to say, though I think they are almost equally good, I'd give the edge to Inside Job.
