  • Excellent points all around. There really wasn't an option, was there? It does make you think though. And calling social services still wouldn't have been a great option. She would've ended up in foster care which would have been a whole other potential nightmare.

That's cool you decided not to drink speeds. You won't be passing on the behavior to the next generation, eh?

    • I know this is about a TV show but I'm asking because I may start renting it through Netflix.

Does anyone watch Entourage? I have a friend who goes on and on about it and says it's awesome. That said, he normally does not watch much TV and seems to hate almost everything I like (admittedly, I'm a bit of a TV junkie). He says it's so much better than Friends. That's a little hard for me to believe. While my friends hates Friends and calls it mindless and too predictable, I loved the show and consider it one of my favorites of all time.

      • We've discussed Entourage a few times in the TV Thread. I don't think you can compare it to Friends. They're nothing alike.

It's a great show for the most part. Ari is awesome. I would definitely recommend renting it.

Couldn't agree more, what a great movie. Really sad and tragic though.

          • I watched Hitman last night. WOW. I wasn't expecting anything more then a cheesy shoot'em up movie but it was actually very good.

            • That's good to know since I added to my queue based solely on Timothy Olyphant having the lead role.

I'm stoked over the next 3 movies on their way to me from Netflix: Michael Clayton, Reservation Road and American Gangster.

I agree with Jaadam, Hitman was very good. Probably the best video game turned movie that I can think of.

As for your next 3 movies Romster, Michael Clayton and American Gangster were phenomenal. Reservation Road left me expecting more. It has a strong cast with Jennifer Connelly, Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Ruffalo I just expected more. I will be curious to hear what you thought of it.

                • So I finally finished watching all the movies nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.

I saw Michael Clayton first a little while ago on PPV. Another great movie by George Clooney, I like that he makes these intelligent movies that really make you pay attention the whole time in order to fully grasp what is really happening. My wife had a little bit of a hard time following it, but I like to think I followed it rather well. Amazing performances all around, this is to be expected with great actors and a great script. Overall I highly recommend this movie.

Next was Atonement probably the one I was least looking forward to see, given that I knew very little about it and hadn't seen much as far as promotion for it. I was very disappointed in this movie, it was just very slow moving for me and I may have expected too much out of it just because it was nominated for so many Oscars. I don't have much to say about it other than I didn't think the acting, storyline and overall pace of the movie were very good.

Next was There Will Be Blood which may have been the one I was looking forward too the most, on account of thinking Daniel Day-Lewis is an amazing actor. He surely didn't disappoint in this movie I thought he was superb without giving away much of the movie there were parts of his performance that reminded me of his role as Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York. Paul Dano (the weird kid from The Girl Next Door and Little Miss Sunshine) did a great job holding his own with an actor like Day-Lewis; I was very surprised by his performance in this. As with Michael Clayton great acting and script and highly recommended.

Juno was the next one we saw. I was most intrigued by this movie, because it the only comedy I can remember in recent history nominated for Best Picture. Ellen Page was great, I knew she would be. I saw her in Hard Candy which was good but never really talked about, and she was amazing in it. The supporting cast was very good, but the writing is what makes this movie IMO. Not your typical in your face comedy that has seems to have taken over the comedy scene, rather a very witty comedy that makes you really listen and think about what's being said. Very Good movie that I would suggest seeing.

Lastly I watched No Country for Old Men last night. Obviously I was really looking forward to seeing this, since it won for best picture. Again did not disappoint, lots of action but a great story to go along with it. Javier Bardem was amazing, hence the Oscar he took home. I thought Josh Brolin was very good and Tommy Lee Jones was great as usual. A little bit weird but that's to be expected coming from the Coen bros. as with most the others great acting and script and highly recommended.

All in all 4 out of the 5 best picture nominees lived up to the hype for me, with only Atonement falling short.

I have all of them besides Atonement and will be watching them over the next few days. I really like Daniel Day-Lewis and Ellen Page. Both a great actors.

Clooney is.. well he's George Clooney. How can you not like such an actor.

Do you have any advice as to what order you'd watch them in?

                      • I plan to see all of those movies in the near future as well. I've already seen There Will Be Blood and liked it a lot. The cinematography was superb along with Daniel Day Lewis' acting. It was a long slow movie but for the most part I didn't mind. I love great actors. I personally think to be a great actor a part of your soul must be tortured in some way.

                                2 orders I would suggest.

                                1. Micheal Clayton, Juno, There Will be Blood, No Country

                                2. There Will be Blood, No Country, Juno, Michael Clayton

The first order starts you off with the most complex of the movies IMO. The last 2 movies are a big long, so if your planning to do them on the same night it might throw you bain into overload.

The second option starts you off with a complex movie and finishes with a complex movie with a decent break between them with No Country and Juno.

Which ever you choose I really don't think you will be dissapointed either way, hope it helps you out. Let me know what you thin of them all when you finish them also.
