    • I don't like horror movies that are straight up about gore and death. I do like ones with a good story and acting. Watch Hereditary. That is one of the creepiest I have ever seen.

      • Re-watched ‘Kung Fu Hustle’ the other day. Still holds as an incredible film that I would recommend for it’s entertainment value. A unique blend of comedy, outstanding action choreography, and a refreshing narrative. There’s hardly anything comparable despite the 2004 release and years of opportunity for Hollywood to copy and paste it for the masses. The Axe Gang so awesome. My dad rented this for me back in 2004 through RedBox. Thought this was so badass back in the day as a younger person. 20 years later? Still badass.

Not to be confused with ‘Kung Pow! Enter the Fist’, which is completely different. Straight comedy, memes, and hilarious stupidity.

        • I enjoyed both of those movies. Kung Pao had me laughing so hard I was crying. I think it was because I was in a weird place and when I went to see it, I desperately needed a laugh.

          • Maybe one of my favorite comedies of all-time (top 10–ish). It’s so stupid funny. The memes. Quotable. Saw it at the right age where it’s still nostalgic. I also had a blast re-watching this in college with friends and we all almost died laughing. Wimp-Lo, Betty… 😂

This is why comedy has to be one of the best movie genres. So many classics. ‘Dumb and Dumber’, ‘The Other Guys’, ‘Superbad’, ‘Office Space’, and most of Mel Brooks’ old movies. Etc, etc.

                  • I saw Wicked today with my niece and nephews. I have to say, I really enjoyed it. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were great. Can’t wait for Part 2.

Not my FAVORITE genre, but there’s definitely a wide range of entertaining horror films. Hundreds of options. Enjoyable to watch this time of year as October is my favorite month! Annual tradition to put on classic ‘The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror.
Hard to go wrong with ‘The Shining’ or ‘28 Days Later’ (the latter being my favorite horror film). Looking forward to ‘28 Years Later’ given the cast and crew!

I just personally think that genres such as drama, comedy, mystery, thriller, epic, war, science fiction, and coming of age (etc) have more quality films. Horror > Westerns though. No doubt.
HAS to be good… Sky high expectations.

                      - 28 Days Later, my favorite horror movie my entire adult life.
                      - Cillian Murphy coming off of Oppenheimer and Peaky Blinders
                      - Danny Boyle returning to direct. The award winning director of Slumdog Millionaire.
                      - Strong cast.

I saw the trailer for that just today. Freaky AF. My ex is the horror fan, and I'm sure she'd love it. Hard pass by me, though, I'm too big of a chicken.

I really wanted to see September 5, but it still isn't playing near me.

                        • Holy shit. Christopher Nolan’s next movie is Homer’s ‘The Odyssey.’ Immediately felt pumped up after reading that headline… like back in 2012 when first hearing about the plot of ‘Interstellar’. Hopefully Cillian Murphy will be added to the cast…

Obviously a famous reading that many people had to learn in school … following the events after the Trojan War. I recall there being a lengthy, low budget, movie about The Odyssey. I might have to revisit it.

There were rumors that Nolan’s next film would be about the old TV series ‘The Prisoner’ that sounded really cool, but I guess that was incorrect. ‘The Simpsons’ made an episode about this too.

                            • BTW, if anyone is looking for a very good Christmas movie, then you should see Klaus if you haven't already. I'd heard so much about it and finally got a chance to watch it tonight with my family as my daughter is up visiting.

                              • I saw A Complete Unknown. Thumbs up. I'm not a big Dylan fan and generally don't go for those movie biopics but this one was pretty good. Timothy Chalamet does a very good job. He really put a lot of work into being able to play and sing like Dylan, a lot of these musical biopics suffer at that aspect.
