  • Agreed about Kingdom of Heaven. The theater version was Hot
    garbage. Directors cut was amazing
    F#*K OHIO!!!

    • Exactly. From mediocre to excellent.
The story filled out. Character motivations made sense. Coherent editing. More complex. From asking “Why is Eva Green in this movie?” to “wow, she’s a cool character!”

I honestly view it as one of Ridley Scott’s best movies. Gladiator, Alien, Blade Runner, and Kingdom of Heaven director’s cut as top tier Ridley Scott movies IMO.

      • Where do you guys find the time to watch all these movies? Have you won the lottery or inherited some cash? Or just fat bastards on a couch with doritos and popcorn?

          • Yes, understood. The last nail job duration was easily 3 marvel movies long. But, really needs to be if you want them looking fantastic. 👌

              • I saw The Marvels yesterday.

It is a fun movie. Short 1:48 running time, but it doesn't really feel rushed. Carol Danvers has a lot more depth and is a lot more likable. Brie Larson has a lot more to do in this movie while not dominating it

Monica Rambaeu is one of my favorite characters. The MCU has different origin but the character is largely the same. T Paris is good and she does get to save the day but at a cost (which leads to one of the best mid credits scenes in MCU history).

But Kamala Khan is the catalyst to the movie and an absolute delight. Such a fun character and you can tell she was having an absolute ball. I think she can be a focal point for the next wave of MCU heroes. It won't happen but can't you just see her and the Tom Holland Spidey just geeking out over what they do.

                • The new Eddie Murphy movie “Candy Cane Lane” on Amazon was a decent watch for the Christmas / holiday movies genre.

Several movies lined up to watch in the near future. Playing catchup, but have to say this feels like the first normal movie year for me since covid threw a wrench into society when it comes to the movie viewing experience …

                  - The Holdovers. Waiting for Apple to drop the rental price to $5.99.
                  - Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part: 1
                  - Oldboy (2003)
                  - Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

                  - Barbie Should be on HBO Max soon. After loving “Lady Bird”, Greta Gerwig’s movie deserves a chance.
                  - Sound of Freedom. Ok, jaadam. I will watch and judge from an objective/ movie viewing perspective.
                  - Godzilla: Minus One. I’ve actually heard this is really good. Loved Godzilla as a kid.
                  - Napoleon. Depending on when the 4 hour director’s cut releases on Apple.
                  - Wonka. I’ve heard this is surprisingly good too. Same director from the Paddington bear franchise. Might take my parents to see this…
                  - Poor Things. Think this is released in January, but sounds like my ‘cup of tea.’ Sci-Fi theme, coming of age, dark comedy, steampunk, and featuring Emma Stone. Sign me up.

Then promise us……… its couch to 5K when “Poor Things” is finished?

                        • “Oldboy” (2003)
Wow. That’s an unforgettable viewing experience in a haunting way. It’s an incredible film. Unique narrative and highly entertaining. There’s a badass hallway fight scene that undoubtedly inspired several fight scenes in newer films/ series. The reveal in the last third of the movie is so dark.

I recommend, but be warned that it’s a similar experience to watching “Gone Girl” or “Parasite” for the first time. Blend of incredible film making with making you feel sick after watching it.

                          lol no.
Seeing “Anchorman” in theaters with my grandparents was cringe enough at the time given the sex jokes in the film.

                            • It was good! The premise made it sound like a 70s version of "The Breakfast Club." I'd say it's much deeper than that and well-acted. I'm obsessed with Paul Giamatti's eyeball...lmao.
