I've been a Netflix subscriber for a long time now and am thinking of switching to Blockbuster Total Access. Netflix does some things that piss me off and the Blockbuster deal seems sweeter. Anyone have opinions either way? Anyone have Blockbuster and if so any complaints?

Rom, I think Blockbuster edits the movies that they rent out, but I'm not 100% on that...

It may be urban legend, but I am sure that they limit the choices based on content...

Blockbuster does not edit the content of its films. But whenever able, Blockbuster will order ?edited for content? versions from the studios that go light on displays of violent or sexual nature.

There is no mention of this tactic anywhere on their website, and the worst part is that most of the rentals don?t mention anywhere on the packaging that the consumer is about to rent a lighter version than the one playing nationwide in theaters. We waited until movie night and tested these findings. An agent of ours rented "The Wonder Boys". This one actually said right before the movie "this film has been edited for content." Boy did we feel jilted. Naturally, we would have never rented the thing if it said on the box "edited for content." We marched back to Blockbuster and politely but firmly asked for our money back, which we received without a problem.

I just signed up for Blockbuster online. So far I got HollywoodLand and Reservoir Dogs from them. I didn't notice a message that said anything about it being edited for content and I had never seen either movie before so I don't know if anything was missing.

I also saw Little Miss Sunshine and The Professional this past week.

Those little kid beauty pageants are gross.

I'd be curious if their version of Reservoir Dogs is less violent than the regular version. I've never seen it but have heard about the notorious ear scene.

I saw a very disturbing movie this weekend - Fast Food Nation. It's main focus is a meat packing plant. I didn't know much about the movie before renting it and was not prepared for the slaughter scenes. It made me want to try vegetarianism again. Don't know if I will though as I only made it one year last time. <sigh>

That was a disturbing movie...I was expecting it to be quirky and funny (like Little miss sunshine). Boy was that ever wrong!

Right on. I hate Fast Food. I haven't really ate it since SuperSize Me came out. That movie was friggin funny.

I saw Borat this weekend. Amusing but not hilarious but then I'm not all that into silly humor. For the most part anyway. I did LOL a few times. The naked wrestling scene was.....was.....was....I'm really not sure what to say about it.

Hey Shweeeethawt! I agree totally, Romstah! I found myself laughing despite myself. When he introduced the girl at the beginning with a big soul kiss, then says it's his sister, the number 4 hooker in Kazakhstand... I lost it. However, overall I mostly felt embarassed for everyone involved.

I'm a gonna post a review of 300 shortly.

Oh, BTW. I don't know if you knew him, but Stimpy from the Detroit FREEP and who also posted at the Multiplex died last week. His name was Tom Stalker Jr. and he will be sorely missed.
