  • Parasite is a great movie. Just be prepared for a ton of subtitles. It really is a great movie. A lot of talking, so you just have to be in the mood to devote energy to the chatter.

Joker was good, too. Phoenix is awesome. Very dark, but it aligns with the times in how some people just go nuts.

    • Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is another good one. It’s so funny when you watch it a second time. The last 30 mins is epic. Pitt basically playing Floyd from True Romance. Leo standing outside with the blender of booze yelling at the Manson family is an all-time great scene.

      • Haha yeah that and Leo in the trailer

          • We totally ignored that movie, then Brad Pitt received an Oscar for his role over Leonardo and I was intrigued. Recorded it as soon as it hit cable and discovered it was awesome!! That scene was CRAZY. If only actual events happened that way...

            • I love the fake product tie in between most of Tarantino’s movies - Red Apple cigarettes. Also didn’t realize until a few years ago that the character, “Mr. Blonde,” played by Michael Madsen in Reservoir Dogs was the brother of Vincent Vega (John Travolta) from Pulp Fiction.

              • Huh, that’s an interesting movie connection.
There were a ton of Tarantino Easter Eggs in Once Upon a Time. ... like Antonio Margheriti’s name was mentioned. Thought that was funny.
The entire last 30 minutes of Once Upon a Time was insane. Brad Pitt, badass.

                ...

Finally saw “Prisoners” starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. It’s been on my watchlist for years and HBO Max recently added it.
Really, really good movie. Thriller mystery with great acting. The mystery had me guessing the entire movie.
Beautifully shot movie too done by the goat Roger Deakins.
... trying to watch all of the Denis Villeneuve movies before “Dune” comes out. Villeneuve is my 2nd favorite active director behind Nolan.

I believe it! Saw that movie when I was quite young and it didn't click with me. Watched it again in 20s ... man it's good. Can imagine it being incredible in 4k

                    • I had a teacher show the movie in school and he got fired. It was due to the tits.

Bladerunner at the time was jawdropping, amazing. It was an instant classic the first time I saw it.

                          • Yup agreed.
Both Bladerunners are visually gorgeous. IMO, BR 2049 being the best cinematography ever. You know, the film that finally won Roger Deakins an Oscar.

"Knives Out" was recently added to Amazon Prime (free to watch for users). Good movie. Similar to "Clue." Daniel Craig's accent is hilarious in the film.
Can't deny that Rian Johnson is a talented director. Controversial for writing decisions in TLJ, but look at his other work + purely the directing.

Definitely recommend to check out the movie if you haven't already. 2019 had so many good movies.

                            • Thanks, will check that out (Knives Out).

We watched Uncut Gems this week on Netflix. Sandler was really good but, wow, that movie gave us both a LOT of anxiety. The entire time.

Started It: Chapter two last night. Not great/not terrible but the casting was crazy good. Why on earth is this movie nearly three hours? Unnecessary.

                              • Guess they aren't really movies, but I'm trying to watch a bunch of the 30 for 30's. So far got the 85 Bears and almost done the 2-part on Lance Armstrong. Seen a bunch of them in the past, but there are a ton to go. Always really good
