  • Saw The Gentlemen the other night, enjoyed it a LOT more than I thought I would. Same with Knives Out, directed by last Jedi director Rian Johnson. After thoroughly trashing TLJ, he did a good job with Knives Out IMO.

Haven't seen "TRON: Legacy" since it came out, but remember it being entertaining. Guess I gave it a 7/10 on IMDB. Had a celeb crush on Olivia Wilde after watching it.
Thought "Ready Player One", a decent blockbuster movie, was very similar to Tron.

I liked that movie. All the music was from my era.

              • I watched "Stories to Tell in the Dark" the other day and really enjoyed it more than I expected. To be honest, any movie that has del Toro in the credits usually immediately gets my interest, but this one slipped under my radar. Although del Toro was not the director, it was easy to see his influence in the movie and that is a very very good thing. It's full of typical horror tropes but done in an interesting way. The amount of tension, creepiness, and gore they got away with in this PG-13 movie also surprised me. Yet the core story is actually kind of wholesome. Anyways - not a perfect movies by any means but I found it entertaining.

                    • I asked my son when leaving the movie if it was wrong that the ending felt so cathartic and satisfying. Knowing the true ending certainly played a role in that feeling, but also all the time on Robbie's character showing what a genuine, charming, and loving person she was was important for me to fully appreciate the tragedy of what really happened. Making the alternative ending soooo much more satisfying.

                      • Tarantino had to go full Tarantino at some point. Build up was well done.

The scene from Joker with the midget trying leave the room was one of the best scenes ever.

                          • Saw Birds of Prey last night. It was entertaining, but really bad. I'm a fan of Margot Robbie but she didn't do a good job of carrying this one.

                            • The previews looked really bad but I was hoping to be wrong about Birds of Prey. I think Margot Robbie was the only person to play the part but the movie looked weak. The rest of the cast looks terrible too.

                              Any redeeming qualities at all?

Not really. I mean it's not a BAD movie overall, I just had to suspend credibility and set my expectations VERY low and then it wasn't bad. I'm a Margot fan overall (who wouldn't be?) but this one she had to carry the movie while remaining in character with a bad accent. The fight scenes were mostly gratuitous but...

All in all I'd give it a solid.. 6, MAYBE 6.5, out of 10.
