Slumdog was right on the money. I tried keeping my expectations down but still thinking in the back of my head that it was going to be great and I wasnt let down a bit. It was a very nice movie.

I liked The Wrestler overall. Any movie in which Marisa Tomei is nekkid gets a 3 star handicap to start. It was filmed in that cinema verite style, much like Van Sant's Elephant. I thought it was one of the better dramas I've seen as of late.

Saw Drag Me to Hell last night, always have been a Sam Raimi fan. I thought that the Spiderman hiatus from Horror my soften him up a bit. Not only was it classic Raimi it was a great movie and the only Horror movie that had me jumping out of my seat. Its not going to give me nightmares, its not that type of movie, but the tension is handled briliantly.

I saw Vicky Cristina Barcelona last night. It was better than I thought it would be. I try to dislike Woody Allen movies but I'm largely unsuccessful. Penelope Cruz is positively gorgeous."And I'm a million different people from one day to the next..."

I've slogged my way through all the movies with major Oscar nominations. Recently I've seen The Wrestler, The Reader, Frost/Nixon, Revolutionary Road, and Changeling. I'd seen the rest.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Doubt was as good as Heath Ledger in Dark Knight. But not better.
I liked all the other Best Picture nominations better than Slum Dog Millionaire: Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, Milk, and The Reader.
Revolutionary Road was painfully boring."And I'm a million different people from one day to the next..."

Saw a powerful little HBO Films movie titled Taking Chance. Based on true events, it's the story of Lt. Col. Michael Stobl's journey as he escorts the body Marine Chance Phelps from Dover to his hometown in Wyoming. I didn't really know the process and was moved by the honor and dignity the military bestows on the process of taking care of the remains of soldiers from cleaning up the body through the funeral service. At the end they flashed up pictures of Chance (whose face you never see in the movie) and it was really very sad. But I am in awe of the courage and sacrifices of the men and women serving in the armed forces."And I'm a million different people from one day to the next..."
