    • I thought Atonement was great for the first 1/2 hour and then pretty much went the way Spdrcr said, and then completely crapped the bed with the ending. Definitely the weakest of those 5 (I liked all the others very much for the most part). Though there is one steadycam shot about 2/3 through the movie that is amazing from a technical and visual standpoint. "Into the Wild" deserved a nomination for Best Picture over it though.

I totally dug Michael Clayton and American Gangster. Two very good movies. Someone told me the portrayal of Frank Lucas was greatly exaggerated but hey it added to the entertainment value. I also heard it's true that Frank and Richie Robert became good friends.

I liked Reservation Road but I see where you are coming from expecting more although I'm not sure I can put a finger on what was lacking. The ending seemed a bit unresolved. I mean I understand why Joaquin walked away but it would have been nice to see it more fleshed out.

Next up, No Country for Old Men which I'm totally stoked to see. Also Hitman and Dan in Real Life.

        • Oh yeah, and I'm looking forward to Atonement for the James McAvoy factor.

          • No Country for Old Men was freaking awesome. I wish I'd seen it on the big screen. Heck, I just wish I had an HD (and bigger) TV to have watched it on. I'm thinking George Bush would want me to put my check toward a sweet HDTV.

I haven't seen a movie that good in a long time.

            • Good to hear, Rom...it's in my queue.

I just finished The Notebook (yeah I've been out of the movie loop a while). Damn, that movie made me cry.

                • Has anyone seen Iron Man? My cousin saw it twice. I guess he loves it.

                  • It's gotten really good reviews. I think its 96% "fresh" at Rotten Tomatoes.

I am excited to see it.

                      • Yeah, Robert Downey Jr. is great. Between Iron Man and Tropic Thunder, he's got a big summer in store for him.

                        • Atonement was a bit of a snooze fest. Decent over all but slow and kinda boring in spots.

I enjoyed The Notebook as well. Up until the very end when they went over the top with the old couple dying in bed together. Ryan Gosling and Rachael McAdams had great chemistry.

Go is on HBO right now and I love the scene in Vegas where the owner of the red sports car throws Taye Diggs they keys outside the hotel (thinking he's the parking attendant) and Steal My Sunshine by Len plays in the background as Taye and his buddy go screaming into the street in the car. Heh heh heh...

                          • Btw, Deb - be warned. No Country for Old Men was quite violent. If you're prepared for that, it won't get in the way of enjoying the story, acting and cinematography.

I have a question for those who've seen the movie and may have read the book. Possible spoiler below:

Wouldn't you have thought Woody Harrelson's character would've been more careful? I mean he knew how good Anton was at finding people...

                              • "Hitman" was terrible. Some fun action sequences, but other than that just a total mish-mashed mess. Not that I was expecting much from a video game movie. Timothy Olyphant was at least fun to watch.
