  • I thought it was horrible SLF. Mortensen was good and so was the guy from oceans 12 and 13. I just thought it was very slow moving and quite boring, just my opinion though.

    • Wow, that's funny. I never would have thought anyone would describe it as very slow or boring...

      • I just may not have been in the modd to watch it which tends to happen sometimes, but compared to say The Departed I thought Eastern Promises was lacking the same sort of excitment. Like I said the acting was good it was just a slow moving storyline for me personaly. I felt the same way about the other movie Cronenberg and Mortensen did together A History of Violence, it just wasn't very good to me I don't know why.

        • It did move a little slow but I liked it.

The shower scene was something else. I wasn't expecting the full monty. I give him a lot of credit for having the balls (lol) to do a scene like that.

          • Well, I watched the highly anticipated (by me) Across the Universe. It was definitely a unique movie watching experience. Very creative. I liked the story and the music and the visuals. I wasn't wowed by it though. I knew Beatles music played a large role in the movie but I honestly didn't realize the movie was a musical which I don't generally like. It was fun trying to catch all the Beatles references, subtle and overt. I'm sure I missed a bunch. Their Sadie was indeed sexy and according to imdb, it was her first acting role.

                  • Watched the '3:10 to Yuma' remake last night. I liked it but it I felt like someting was missing, though I can't really put my finger on what. Russell Crowe and Ben Foster were really good as the baddies, and Christian Bale had a nice understated performance, and Peter Fonda had a nice bit part. I need to rewatch it when I'm less tired though.

My wife and I watched this last night, and both loved it. I knew it was a musical but only after my dad watched it did I find out that it was strictly Beatles music. Being that I'm only 24 I'm not the biggest Beatles fan out there but know most of their music from my parents (huge fans), so I wasn't sure how I was going to like the movie. I thought the storyline was great, it ran the gamut of emotions not going to elaborate of that to much for fear of spoiling the movie. I think it did a very good job of portraying the feel of the times though. I thought the actors were great and their singing was phenomenal, I saw a youtube video with the cast that said 90% of the singing in the movie was live which I thought was amazing. All in all a great movie and if your a fan of the Beatles or musicals then I highly recommended it.

I have been riding the hype train on it since the first trailer came out something like 6 months ago and it does not disappoint. I have read some reviews and have heard some on TV as well, and it seems to be a hit or miss with people. I would be curious to hear what everybody else thinks about it if they see it, but I highly recommend it.
Saw Cloverfield today finally. Skipped out on work early to catch the matinee. I really liked it, though I am a bit of a sucker for rampaging monster movies. The shaky camera thing does get annoying and I can see why that turns people off. But I thought some of the scenes were phenomenal, like the street battle right before they ducked into the subway. Also, the character carrying the camera was pretty annoying most of the movie. But it was an interesting take on the moster flick.

                        • Nothing about Cloverfield looks good to me but everyone that's saw it said it was good.

                          • And that's saying something for you.

So, what did everybody think about the Academy Awards? I thought Michael Clayton was the best movie of the 5 nominated, but it was pretty clear the No Country had all the momentum leading up to the night. I also thought Tom Wilkinson should have won for Best Supporting, but Javier Bardem was awesome as well so that's a tough one to argue. Honestly, I didn't see enough of the female roles, lead or supporting to make a judgment there.

It was good to see The Bourne Ultimatum clean up in the technical awards.

                              • I rented Wedding Daze only because Isla Fisher was in it. She's so beautiful but I still didn't like the movie.
