I joined a political party on Wednesday and have started attending some meetings. That's something I never thought I'd do. But I wanted to get involved and figured this was a start.

I finished watching No End in Sight. I won't go on and on since this is a movie thread. I'll just say it was eye opening and I truly believe, we have been terrorists to the Iraqi people.

I just received a Netflix subscription as a gift and was adding items to my queue. I saw this review and busted out laughing...
(From the NY Times): "Smokin Aces is a Viagra suppository for compulsive action fetishists and a movie that may not only be dumb in itself, but also the cause of dumbness in others."

I saw "Shoot 'em Up" with Clive Owen yesterday. I thought it was actually a pretty well done (and dry) mockery of the action shoot'em up genre, including dumb quips like "eat your vegetables" after killing a guy with a carrot.

I just watched on back to back nights "I am Legend" and "The Good Shepherd" and although both were good, I really enjoyed the Good Shepherd a lot more.
IamL ... just seemed like half a movie to me. Not sure why, but right about the time I found myself getting absorbed i the story it was over.
TGS ... however, really made me want to do some further reading about Ed Wilson and the CIA. I loved the questions the movie left in your mind. Matt Damon isn't my favorite actor however. How much of that movie was fiction?
ok ... so there was a CIA operative named Ed Wilson, but he's known as the guy who sold arms to Lybia. The Ed Wilson of the movie is loosely based on the life of James Angleton.
Maybe to avoid slander/defamation lawsuit possibilities? I don't know, I haven't seen TGS, probably will on DVD though.
I just got back from seeing Sweeney Todd. This movie originally caught my eye a few years back, when I was watching Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl (with Ben Affleck, George Carlin and Liv Tyler, oh yeah, JLo was in there for a moment or two), all the girls were doing scenes from Cats, and his kid wanted to do Sweeney Todd. Then when I found out that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp were attached to it, I knew it was gonna be good, and it was. The movie had a good pace to it, the songs were good, and it had both moments of humor and shock mixed in. It wasn't really a scary movie or anything, just good dark humor, the classic tales of revenge and irony mixed together and all sewn up at the end quite nicely.
