I had the same childhood experience with the breaking glasses DanO. My dad spanked me once but I was absolutely terrified.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

    • “The Menu”
Really good movie from 2022 on HBO Max. It’s a satire/ thriller that pokes at the food industry and critics. The movie is made by some of the team from “Succession.” Mark Mylod, Adam McKay, and Will Ferrell directing/ producing. The lead actors were all fantastic… specifically thought Nicholas Hoult’s character was hilarious. Definitely recommend. Many laughs in the movie. Unique and refreshing! I’ll keep it vague to avoid spoilers.

      • I watched The Menu this week as well and really enjoyed it. Agree that Hoult was hilarious. Some of the satire is a bit heavy handed and there are definitely some things that stretch logic but it’s so well executed you can forgive them and just enjoy.

If you haven’t seen it yet, would recommend Ready or Not which hits a lot of the same notes and is also really fun.

        • Was that filmed before the McKay/Ferrell breakup?

From my understanding, movies can be written or produced years in advance from release. Perhaps that’s what happened in this instance because McKay and Ferrell are on there as producers. Sounds like the McKay/ Ferrell breakup happened in that ~2020 to 2021 time period.

As a big fan of the TV series “Succession”, hopefully that’s not affected due to that breakup.

How heavy is it on the thriller or horror side of things? I find myself a lot less able to tolerate suspense and horror types of movies in my older age.

I’m in that boat as well. I’ve never really enjoyed the genre. There’s been a few that ive liked but not many. That one with Ethan Hawke recently was good though. It was different

                        • It’s not a horror movie, though there are a couple of scenes with a bit of blood. There’s some tension for sure, but more weird than anything and a lot of it is played for laughs so it never gets too intense.

Thanks. Setting the DVR to record it tonight! We have to finish Bullet Train first.

                              • History of the World sequel! High expectations to live up to the original… Glad to see 96 year old Mel Brooks doing something.
EDIT: Apparently it’s a TV or Mini Series, not a movie.
