  • I’m more of a DC guy but Marvel movies have been way better. I loved the animated Justice League and Justice League Unlimited series. I wish the live action DC movies could be like those.

I'm actually more of a DC guy than Marvel (mostly Batman and Superman up until the early 2000s, but I do love Spidey!) but now with these movies, you need to either read them over the years or use Google/Wikipedia to get a handle on what they're talking about with all the Easter Egg stuff.

Nolan, for all the griping that people have made over the years with the 3 Batman movies that he made, one thing that I did enjoy about his 3 films was that you didn't need to know who Ra's Al Ghul was to enjoy Liam Neeson playing the role, or Heath Ledger giving the performance of a lifetime in '08. He-Nolan, did put some Easter eggs in his movies, but there weren't any Post-credits scene stuff at all.
That's every comic movie right? If it weren't for the Arrow tv series, I would not have known who he was or why he was attacking Gotham. I think you're cherry picking. I didn't care much for Nelson, his role or the arch of his daughter. I DID like Heath as the best Joker EVER.

I like both but prefer Marvel. Of course they have Eggs to tie them into each other. And while you shun this, it is a lot harder. AND you are absolutely wrong. At the end of Suicide Squad, what is there? At the end of Aquaman? I could go on. Marvel and DC does the same.

Also. Batman/Superman/Spiderman, can we find 1 story arc with 1 actor please? Every new Batman actor makes the whole thing confusing. Every new actor has to be a whole new psuedo-story. I'm an Epic guy so I'll watch, just feels like re-runs after awhile.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

I have Suicide Squad on my laptop, but I won't watch it anytime soon.

Never liked Aquaman, and I'm guilty of still thinking he's the useless member of the Superfriends back in the 70s and 80s.

Question: Is Epic a comic book company, or you're talking about any movie epic in scope?

          Any

Epic is epic. Usually a scifi/action movie with a lot of action.

I only brung up those DC films to illusrate that both DC and Marvel do the Easter Egg thing so I wouldn't die on that hill.

          • What is weird to me is if you read the comics (back in the day) Marvel always seemed to be the darker, rougher and grittier of the two. DC, led by Superman were all-American and wholesome. Marvel characters were dealing with PTSD, depression, loneliness, etc.. and had a sort of realism to them. But now the DC movies have embraced a darker side after the Dark Knight. And the Marvel movies embrace a wholesome side to them.

For instance, if you watched the old batman tv series, you never heard any utterance of the Dark Knight. I can't see Adam West being "Dark." Love Adam West.

Future, I'm around or near the same age as you (born late '60s) so I do remember the Adam West Batman, and when the series finally came out on Blu-ray back in '14, I bought the entire set!

However, as you probably know, the Batman character was re-invented after the Adam West show went off the air in '68, becoming darker and more edgy, leading up to the 2 Tim Burton films in '89 and '92, and later on, the Nolan trilogy, and now, the new one that just came out earlier this year.

I'll admit that live action, Marvel curb stomps DC all over the map, but when it comes to animation, it's the opposite: DC owns animation with better stories, shows, and movies.

The one thing that I'll always criticize Warner Brothers for is this: they needed to have a Kevin Feige to run their DC Intellectual Properties (IP) properly, and not have clowns like Zach 'The Hack' Synder doing 3 divisive DC movies.

Also: How come Marvel can make Captain America, a character wearing the US Flag, for crying out loud, more interesting than Superman??

                  • In think both the Marvel and DC movies suffer from far too much CGI.

                    • Superman is the hardest character to write compelling stories for. It's always been a problem, the villian has to have some Rube Goldberg scheme involving kryptonite or a villian from outer space. The scope has to be big too.

Batman is the easiest guy to write a story about, he's just a rich guy with cool toys and his scope is more or less protect crime ridden Gotham.

I enjoy the Adam West shows more than any of the movies besides the two Keaton movies. Everyone at the time thought those Burton movies were so dark, but they are basically just an update of the campy shit of the TV show.

I'm confused. The Nolan/Bale movies were amazing

                        • I liked the first Nolan film, I don't think the Dark Knight is great. It's good. I didn't care to watch the third one.

                          • I loved Keaton’s Batman. But at the time I thought it was so dark and deep compared to the Adam West Batman.

I’ve enjoyed all of the Batman movies except Schumaker’s versions. I didn’t have a problem with Clooney. I just thought he was put in a bad position.

                            • I didn't mind the Schumacher movies when I watched them, I haven't seen them in a long time. They don't hold up, but most comic movies don't hold up 25 years later. They are a product of their time, a lot of coke was done back then.

I get it and as I said I like all of it, but give me 1 Batman origin movie and move on. You think that if they remake the same story 3-4 times they'll actually do really good at it? Plus, when did super blue skies Superman have a dark edge about him? That turned after 911, but prior his story, TV shows and movies were so "nice" Now all of DC's characters try to follow that Dark theme.

I'm actually early '60s and can remember watching the Batman re-runs on channel 50 and then doing the "BAM!" "POW" thing as I kicked my brothers tail. Playfuly of course. Noboby could tell us we weren't great actors
