Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

      • Back to the original question. It depends on what you want from the movie Uncharted. It’s almost a new aged Indiana Jones but off the charts from reality. The cool part to the original National Treasure is that they made shit somewhat believable and adventure.

Uncharted is just crazy unrealistic. Tom Holland is really good with Funky Bunch but I wouldn’t watch it again.

          • Wow. Top Gun: Maverick was WAYYY better than I expected. I was in High School when the original came out, and already fascinated by fighter planes, so I was the target demo for the original. I liked the original, but it didn't really hold up great on rewatch. Even so, Top Gun shaped that whole summer. .

So flash forward to now, I take my old grumpy ass to the movie theater with my son, not expecting much. Movie starts and .. oh man ... that classic music over the opening scene of just carrier planes taking off and landing! Its like a nostalgia bomb goes off in my head and I am instantly hooked. Then the movie proceeds to be fun solid entertainment for the next 2 hours.

            Highly recommended!

            • Yeah I thought Top Gun: Maverick was done quite well.my only issue was the writing too often gave away its own surprises which I can't really go into without entering spoiler territory. I consider that pretty minor though and still very much enjoyed it.

              • Great movie, but I think the whole Jennifer Connelly story was forced and unnecessary. Then again, maybe there would've been too much adrenaline without it, the rest was so good
WHO CARES why it says paper jam when there is no paper jam?

                • My wife and I loved the new Top Gun. Took the whole family, and even my teenage kids (who aren’t big fans of the original) really liked it. With that said, definitely seemed like Star Wars: A New Hope provided inspiration.

Yeah, I agree. But it was still done better than the love story in the original. In fact, I think the original had better banter between the competing pilots. But Other than that, Maverick is the better movie in all other ways.

Also RE love story - this may be a bit of s stretch but one could argue it helped establish that Maverick has something to live for. He's lost pretty much everything so his actions could come off as just someone with a reckless death wish, diminishing the impact of his sacrifices.

Or, maybe it was just to pander to the ladies.

Yes. I felt many aspects had to be an intentional homage to A New Hope.

                          • Top Gun is a film that is in that “WOW, YOU HAVEN’T SEEN……” category.

Haven’t seen the old one or new. Just didn’t ever get around to it. Also haven’t seen Ghostbusters.

My mate who was my best-man, hasn’t witnessed ANY Star Wars movies. Loves SpaceBalls though. And thinks Darth Vader actually looks like Helmet.
"...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

If you are talking about the love story between Maverick and Iceman, I agree.
