  • I finally saw Superman Returns today at the IMAX theatre in 3-D. I have to say it was very enjoyable. The end dragged a bit but it was still good. I did get a little annoyed that they seemed to re-use some of the lines from the original movies. I know they were trying to pay homage to those films but to use the exact same lines seemed wrong.

The suit didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. It still did seem a bit rubbery and the fact that the yellow "S" on the back of the cape was missing caught me off-guard.

The kid was cute without being grossly sweet or smart-alecky. I'm really glad he wasn't overused. I agree, jaadam4, they probably could have found someone better than Kate Bosworth to play Lois Lane.

The 3-D experience was pretty cool. I wish they would have made the openeing space travel sequence in 3-D. That would have really been cool. I would like to see it in a regular theatre just to experience it without having to put on the glasses every other 15 minutes but I don't want to spend the money or sit in a theatre for another 2.5 hours.

    • Anybody see "GARFIELD 2" ?

I thought it was OK,but my 3 year old girl thought it was not so good, she has watched the first one a hundred times and loves it,but the 2nd.?She can't keep interested, she keeps leaving and starts playing with her toys!

xtra:Watched "Spanglish"last night, and I must say, even though it didn't seem to interesting to me at first,I stuck it out and it got interesting, but then,I didn't care for the ending!

IMO,It's not for Adam Sandler fans,he just happens to be in it,and doesn't even show up,for some time.He gets to do a few of his little outbursts, with his "yelling temper" a few times, but other than that,he's just there,if you know what I mean.

        • And Miami Vice was horrible. I almost got up and left. The story was weak and the acting was worse.

              • I liked it, although I think it might have been improved if they'd left in the boat race at the beginning of the film - as it is, you're just kind of dumped into the film, and since the stakeout at the club doesn't actually have anything to do with the main plot, it takes a while to get going. And I think the casting of Gong Li has an overall negative effect, as she's central to the film but frankly it can be difficult to determine exactly what she's saying.

Although the movie borrows some plot elements from the final episode of the television show, it's really not much like the '80s MV. If you liked either Heat or Collateral, though, then you should give it a shot.

                  • For those who like offbeat fair, I recently saw "Everything Is Illuminated" with Elijah Wood and I thought it was fantastic. A quirky, funny movie that turns very serious and touching. Very, very good.

                    • Two movies stand out in my mind as my favorite viewing over the last 6 months (and I watch a lot of movies). They are The Jacket with Adrien Brody and Lord of War with Nicolas Cage.

                          • Someone else saw The Jacket? Cool. I passed the DVD cover in Blockbuster so many times and read the back a few times and never picked it up and one day I put it in my Netflix queue. During the first part of the movie I wasn't really into it and next thing I know I'm totally drawn in. The culmination of events at the end when you hear his voice reading his letter to the Mom was so powerful. It cemented Adrien Brody as one of my favorite actors.
