As I type this, I'm aware that I've made the movie sound pretty dark and it's not. It has several funny and light-hearted moments and the overall message is hopeful. I liked the movie...but if feeling emotion is uncomfortable, you should probably skip it.
My wife goes to different centers her company owns and trains nurses. She was just down in Columbus (enemy territory) for 2 weeks and saw that while she was there knowing I wouldn't see it with her. She echoes your sentiment.

    • Funny, parked in front of us at the theater was a car with the license plate:

      IH8OHIO

All that travel must get old! Hope she's also able to train locally.

      • Manchester by the sea

I missed the first 15 mins of the movie in which I'll definitely need to go back and rewatch because the movie felt a little off.

I liked it. It was powerful with the writing and acting but for me it just wasn't epic like I thought. I thought Arrival was far better.
        F#*K OHIO!!!

              • Probably won't come out in theaters here, but I'll have to see it when I can. I'm still waiting for the theater closest to our house to re-open. I think it's next month or April.

                • The movie poster for T2 is great. Can't wait to catch that one in a few months.

So I saw "Moonlight" today. Powerful movie... It's slow, but has really good acting, cinematography, and a deep message. Basically it's if you combine "Boyhood" + "Brokeback Mountain." I won't watch it again, but wanted to catch it before the Oscars tonight. I find it odd that people love Mahershala Ali's performance as a supporting actor. He was decent, but only had like 10 minutes of screen time all in the first act. IDK if what he did is deserving of an award. 8/10 ish.

The Oscars: "Sing Street" was snubbed, so the biggest thing I'm rooting for is "Arrival" to win Best Cinematography. The way Arrival was shot was so amazing. Interesting thing: Bradford Young did the cinematography for Arrival. He will be doing the same thing in the Han Solo movie. The Han Solo movie has A LOT of talent making it.

                  • There's been some good movies this last year but Sing Street missing out is kind of a let down. They made a fantastic movie with a no name cast and hit it out of the park

Manchester By The Sea = good
La La Land = real good
                    Arrival = damned good

Of all those only Arrival and Sing Street are movies I'd watch again. Manchester and La La Land aren't movies I'd watch again for awhile.

                    • I thought Allied was very deserving as well. That was a great cast, script and acted perfectly.

                      • Omg... the movie "Logan" ... incredible.
Deadpool, Logan, X2, and X-Men First Class (directed by Matthew Vaughn) are in a league of their own compared to the other X-Men movies.
But wow, Logan might be my favorite now. I think you'll like this as much as you like "3:10 To Yuma" (same director)... a movie I love. Logan is hard R too

                          • Went and watched Logan. It's definitely not your run of the mill Xmen movie that's for sure. I thought it was done rather well and quite liked it even though it has some darker tones to it.

                            • WOW... Just WOW

I've put off watching the movie Collateral Beauty because it only received a 6.7 on IMDB. Generally the only good movies that are under 7 is your comedies but the rest I generally find spot on.

That was one of my favorite movies of the year and maybe several years. Its probably Will Smiths best performance ever

                              • Watched sicario and Deus Machina... playing catch up. Both stellar.

Saw ghost in shell in theater. Worst movie I've paid for since Wicker Man Redeux with nic Cage. Lame.
