  • Well i wasn't a fan. I liked Inglorious Bastards and Django very much but this was garbage.

It was cast really well and the acting was great but I just didn't like it. I think it's cool that Quentin Tarantino can make films how he wants and be outside of the common box office. Just didn't like this one.

    • Just watched "The Other Guys" yesterday for the first time in 5 years.
      This movie is awesome!

Adam McCay (Anchorman, Step Brothers, The Big Short) directed it. The dialogue of almost everything said in this movie is great... And there were some hilarious shots/ use of camera.

"Now they call me Yankee Clipper", " well you are, you shot Jeter" "Yeah why couldn't you have shot A-Rod instead". Best dialog ever.

          Lol.
How Michael Keaton's character kept saying TLC songs/ lyrics, but he had no idea...
Will Farrell and Eva Mesdes' relationship...
Of course, the iconic "aim for the bushes" scene.

I just think it's underrated how brilliant this movie is. Humor on so many levels.
Hard to beat Adam McCay's writing for modern comedies.

          • It was spectacularly hilarious comedy. The comedy was just so great that it overcame just about any faults.

              • I watched "Burnt" this weekend. It got slightly average ratings but i thought it was very well done. Great cast and even better acting.

Saw it tonight (thanks to Red Box).
"Bridge of Spies" is good. It's a 7/10 IMO.
There is nothing emotional about it and I feel like the stakes are boring/ obvious.
However, there is a lot of good Spielberg things to it. Great citemotography, acting, and probably doing the best with that story as possible.

I love Sylvester Stalone's role as Rocky in "Creed", but I'd objectively give Mark Rylance the Oscar for best supporting actor.

                  • I conpletely agree with your assessment of Bridge of Spies but I thought Creed was garbage. I didn't feel any emotional attachment to that film at all. There was barely any training or boxing. To me it was a let down.

It definitely focused on characters... developing Adonis to a character some people cared for, including myself.
That is why "Rocky" was so great.

My biggest complaint is that I didn't hate or care about the villian. He would fit Marvel villians very well... Not developed.

                      • I saw some new releases this weekend.

"Deadpool" is a fun movie. Very refreshing for the super hero genre, though it has its flaws (underdeveloped villians, very basic plot). Still, the hard R movie is a 8/10 for me.

"Zoolander 2", wow, why? I'm a HUGE fan of the original, but the sequel just recycled old jokes and had random big name cameos. There were some funny moments, but ultimately was a disappointment. 3/10

Ever since the Anchor Man 2 train wreck I knew they would F up Zoo 2. I thought the first one was hilarious but I have no intention on watching this garbage.

                          • I watched Whiplash the other day and man was it good. According to IMDB they shot that movie in 19 days. It's really a damned good movie.

                            • My 15 year old son really wanted to see "Hail Caesar". I was like ... "Really?" ... but it kinda makes sense because he is really into movies, likes to keep track of the good directors (like the Coen brothers) and this is a movie about making movies.

Its definitely not something I'd normally see in the theater, and seeing it with my son just confirmed that perception. Its more ironic than funny. There were really just a couple big laughs and both took pretty much the entire movie to set up. On the positive side, my son got a good history lesson about the 50s (again wrapped in a lot of irony) so it wasn't a total waste and the technical aspects of the film were typical Coen brothers (in other words, very good).

F*** them when they release this predictably mediocre sequel movie
