  • Hmmm. Nolan film + my favorite movie time period = likely success.
Operation Dynamo, which was the evacuation of Dunkirk, sounds like something I've heard before.... In the movie "Atonement", there was a scene that showed British soldiers at Dunkirk. Great movie.

Don't need a movie for that, just watch "Real Life".

          • 2015.
            Jurassic Park ... Jurassic World
            Rocky ... Creed
Star Wars ... The Force Awakens

Funny how similar the narrative of each sequel is to the original. Just a way of reenergizing fan bases. Oh, and making $$$ of course.
With that said, I enjoyed each of those movies.

Props to Mad Max: Fury Road for being original.

Definitely. Just an example that you don't have to base a sequel off the original narrative to do better. The original "Mad Max" was above average though... Not impossible to do better than like Rocky or Jurassic Park.

I hope it wins Best Drama tomorrow at the Golden Globes.
It's up against "Spotlight", a movie I haven't seen yet...

                • Watched The Revenant last night. I don't think this is Leo's Oscar like people are saying but it's one of the most beautifully shot movies I've ever seen. The backdrops were just amazing and they had a ton of camera shots that made you wonder how they pulled it off. Good movie

                  • "The Revenant" did extremely well at the Golden Globes tonight.
I was kind of disappointed "Inside/Out" wasn't nominated for Best Picture Comedy. Even though it's animated, it's still my favorite movie of 2015.
2015 did have a lot of great movies though... "The Martian" somehow won best comedy of 2015. Great movie, but it's more drama than comedy.

I still need to see "Room", "Spotlight", and "The Revenant" before the Oscars next month...
Hopefully "The Force Awakens" gets some Oscar love too.

                    • The Martian got best comedy? wtf, are you serious?

It had several pretty hilarious scenes but that's just retarded.

                      • Yeah, I wouldn't classify The Martian as a comedy.

I didn't like anything about Spider-Man 3 that I can remember. But I thought Spider-Man 2 was one of the best superhero movies I've ever seen.

                        • Im going to have to rewatch that one then. I was pretty let down by all of the spiderman series.

I've always felt the casting could have been better

                          • I thought Tobey Maguire played Peter Parker so well in Spider Man 2. He really made me feel the struggle Pete Parker was going through wanting to live a normal life and feeling that responsibility to help.

                            • Watched Hateful Eight and wasn't that impressed. Did it really need to be almost 3 hours long?

Yes and no. QT has decided after Jackie Brown that he wants to basically create modern day versions of "underground" or cult classics of his heyday. What that means though is tons of QT dialogue. Some movies that fits. It made Inglorious Basterds a better movie, and was so perfect in Django. In the Hateful eight it really clashed with the setting and overly stretched the movie. The 20 minute debate at the end I think took a lot of enjoyment out of the movie. It's not bad but its far from one of QT's better movies.

It had to be that long because QT. It just probably wasn't a movie that QT should have made.
