Rogue was definitely better than I thought.

I think MI3 suffered from a major dislike of Tom Cruise at the time. It was at the height of his "Tom Cruise is crazy" phase. Paramount barely wanted to do it, they killed his contract afterward.
Liked Rogue Nation not the best MI but still very rewatchable. Southpaw was decent to good. The redemption was a little too quick for my tastes, but the rest was well done.

Spot on with everything. I'm not quite sure how Cruise is still making movies after the mess he found himself in. People severely disliked him around that time.
I thought Southpaw was good but I agree the movie put it all back together pretty quickly.F#*K OHIO!!!

He was on top of the world then all of the sudden it was a circus. I always ponder the hypothetical question, would you rather be rich and severely famous like that or an average Joe.
If you'd have asked me 10 years ago I'd have said the famous route but these days with the media, social media and paparazzi there's no way in hell. Celebrities are insane to go through that shit. I like my privacy and being able to walk down the street.F#*K OHIO!!!

Oh, for sure.
When I first came here, I was the only foreigner in the town. One day I went into work and a lady in the office started asking me why I buy the "expensive" milk. Apparently, her friend saw me shopping, and I dropped an extra 20 cents on one brand of milk over another. That was enough for her to call this lady and have a conversation about it.
I can't even imagine the scrutiny celebrities deal with, but it must be the creepiest and most surreal way to live your life.
I still think Tom Cruise is a wacko though.2015 AAL - Ezekiel "Double Digit Sacks" Ansah.

Don't normally come into this section, glad I did though. Last few posts made me laugh out loud.
I'm not really a big movie watcher, (only 5'8" ........., and a half) ......., seriously though, I don't watch many films, (last new film was the Jurassic thing) ...., and as such, I know nothing about Tom Cruise being a crazy nut job! What the hell happened? You gotta love Tom for the Risky Biz socks on the polished floor dance!"...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

Saw a couple new ones...
Black Mass last night, again really good almost great. Depp was really good, he might get beat up a bit for his lack of deep boston accent. I think the accent is hard to do and either you can or can't, makes me think of thirteen days ( the cuban missle crisis kevin costner one) his accent was awful and took away for the performance imo. Anyway else see it pm me for a question about joel Edgertons charcter.
The Martian was the other thought it was fantastic, lot of actors i like and all did a solid job. Not going to spoil it but it was different than i thought it would be. Ridley scott will get major props for getting a sci fi right, but i really think it was drew goddard as the writer that did it for me dudes a hell of a writer i have yet to dislike anything he's written yet. Scott hasn't done a movie ive really liked in a while since body of lies (although i probably like prometheus more than others). 9.5 out of 10 for me

I can't believe Ridley Scott, who arguably has made some of his "lesser movies" later in his career (like Robin Hood, The Counselor, Exodus), made a better space movie (The Martian) than Christopher Nolan (Interstellar). .... AND with two major cast members being the same with Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain.
Better based on reviews. I haven't seen "The Martian" yet and I LOVED "Interstellar."
At least with "Interstellar", it used original screenplay.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Just went and watched Martian and it was friggin damned good. It's the best movie I've seen at the movies in a long while. Damon was awesome just like Hanks was in castaway by himself in scenes. The movie was smart and had a lot of humor in itF#*K OHIO!!!

Speaking of Tom Cruise, I saw "All the Right Moves" (1983) recently.
In the middle of the movie, there is an unnecessary 15 min football scene. Tom Cruise's football team basically won the game, but they decide to run the ball instead of taking a knee to end the game. Of course they fumble and lose the game.
Uh, kind of a plot hole? Why didn't they take a knee?! Dumb.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill
