Meh.. I didn't have catch Everest in time so I had to settle for "We are friends" which was the ONLY thing playing in English. The reviews for the movie were straight up terrible and I myself felt like I could have gotten up a few times and just left myself.
The cast was about as good as could be and the acting was pretty decent but the story wasn't told properly. As bad as the reviews were and the awful box office returns it could have actually been a damned good movie.
Either way I'll be going back tomorrow for Everest. Can't waitF#*K OHIO!!!

Finally saw "Mad Max: Fury Road." Incredible. Not only was the action amazing, but it included a lot of great narrative. Character development was superb too. ... And all that random 80s like stuff, like the guy playing a guitar during the chase.
AND it was unique, limited use of CGI, and didn't have the feel of a sequel too. That's refreshing.,
Just awesome. George Miller has to be the most inconsistent director of all time. He has directed all of the Mad Max movies (rated R) and another rated R movie about witches. Miller's other movies are Babe (rated G) and both Happy Feet movies (rated G).

Agreed on Mad Max. I loved this installment.
I finally made it over to watch Everest this afternoon. It was shot really well and the actors put in great performances. I've never read the book "Into Thin Air" or any of the other books on that hike but I might just give it a go.F#*K OHIO!!!

Some of the artistic stuff reminded me of the original "Total Recall."
Very 1980s feel to Mad Max: Fury Road... which again, is unique and nice.
How many modern directors do stuff like that and also makes it good quality? Very few.
I also saw "The Imitation Game" last night. It was a good movie, but nothing special. It's like a poor man's version of "A Beautiful Mind." ... great lead acting, similar story, almost a perfect music score, and great cinematography. Keira Knightly is always great to watch IMO.
Worth it to watch? IDK, maybe if Google Play offers 75% off again (which was the reason why I saw it).
I haven't decided to rate it 7/10 or 8/10 (with that said, "A Beautiful Mind" is a 10/10).AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

I think I decided 8/10.
"Boyhood", "Whiplash", and "Grand Budapest Hotel" are better best picture nomination movies... with "Whiplash" still being my favorite movie of 2014.
"Everest", saw it in IMAX 3D. Another good movie.... It focused a lot on the characters.
IDK why, but I expected more suspense ... probably because of how much action the last mountain movie had (Vertical Limit).
7/10, better than Vertical Limit, but not as good as I thought it would be.
I'd compare the quality to "Captain Philips." Both realistic and character central, but lacking the movie plot that I like to see.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

I think each of the MI movies are good, even MI2.
MI2 was directed by John Woo, the director of Face/Off. This movie definitely had that weaker plot, but a lot of over the top action.
A lot of people don't think MI3 is that great. I saw it again on Monday and thought it had some strong moments / strengths. VERY good cast. But obviously being JJ Abrams first movie, it wasn't as great as Ghost Protocal (Brad Bird), MI (De Palma) or Ghost Natiom (Chris McQuaire).
I saw "Taxi Driver" for the first time last night. Holy crap, that was incredible.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill
