  • Is it just me or is the film industry at an all-time low right now? Movies that have been in theaters for the last month or so look awful... overall I would say the last couple of years haven't been too good. I miss 2000-2001... movies like "Gladiator", "Pearl Harbor", "The Patriot", "The Fellowship of the Ring", "Artificial Intelligence", "A Beautiful Mind", "Shrek", "Black Hawk Down", and more...

I guess they are just running out of ideas.
A lot of sequals and remakes + other crap haha

    • If Lee Daniels: The Butler can "dominate" the box office for over a month, that tells you the quality of movies out there right now.

That movie was very average at best haha...

Agreed.. We've been hurting for movies over the last couple of years. Gatbsy was my one hope for this years excellence but it sounds like that was a let down. It's one of my favorite books so when I heard it was middle of the road in reviews I've just completely put off watching it.

              • I tend to do someothing like that also Jad. I'm skepitcal of any movie made from a book I enjoyed. Lukewarm or bad reviews will put it in the "Wait for cable" category.

Right now I'm lining up a blitz next weekend.

                I plan to see
                Captain Phillips
                Gravity
                and
                Rush

I'm actually leery of Rush since I am a huge Formula One fan and it appears they took a bit of license with the main protagonist's personality. It's one of those deals where the more you actually know, the harder it is to watch a movie on it.

                • I just finished season 3 of "The Walking Dead." I gotta say, this is one of my favorite TV series of all time.
I think its genius how TWD and GoT will get you so attached to the main characters with amazing character development... then they just kill them off. This makes me more emotionally attached to the series haha.

Its up there with "LOST", "Game of Thrones", "Arrested Development", "Friends", "Parks and Recreation", and "The Office" ...
The 4th season of "The Walking Dead" is starting Sunday, can't wait for that!
Once I have more time, I'm going to start "Breaking Bad" because of how many positive things I've heard about that show.

                  • Rush could be one of those damn good movies if they shot it right. It looks like the cast is pretty solid. IMO it'll either be one of those really good movies or just be complete shit. There's no middle ground.

                    • Series final of Dexter one week, and series final of Breaking Bad the next. Both were awesome shows. The wife and I had a great time catching up using Netflix and Directv on demand.

                        • I've watched Dexter through Season 4 and haven't picked it up since. I don't know that I will pick up the rest because it sounds like the show went downhill pretty bad the past few seasons.

This looks AWFUL. ... and that's what you get when you choose a terrible director.

                            • when you click on the director's IMDB page and you see he's "known for" Cliffhanger, Diehard 2, and Deep Blue Sea, you just how bad the next movie will be
