    • Favorite quote from the story ...

Lohan's lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, said the actress holds the same single name recognition as Oprah or Madonna.
"Many celebrities are known by one name only, and E-Trade is using that knowledge to profit," Ovadia said.
This is so dumb, so elitist, so vain, so narcissistic I'm rendered speechless.

                  The only logical explanation is:

The strange thing is D.J.'s grandma had died two months earlier.
OMG that gives me goosebumps (and faith that maybe when I tell my kids that Grandpa Jim is looking out for them that it isn't just hooey).

                      Makes you wonder.

Scares me that it was caused by a night light, a walkaround reveals I usually have 4 burning during the night.

                          I did the same.

Had two going in our place.

Looked for a UL rating and didn't find it on one of them.

I pulled both just to ease my concern.

                          • Invest in some of those push disc lights that you can stick almost anywhere.

I personally feel they are safer than night lights, as they are battery operated.

                            • True story: The wife and I were stationed in Germany in the summer of 1992. Our oldest son was three and our youngest at the time had just turned one. We followed some friends of ours in our ?89 Cavalier to an indoor/outdoor water-park some 50 or so miles (kms, whatever) away. It was a three car convoy. After spending a day of sunning and funning, the exhausted families gathered up the belongings and headed towards the cars for our convoy back. Daddy opened up the trunk to put our massive amounts of crap inside (stroller, diaper bag, blankets etc) and at some point must have set his keys down inside the trunk. While turning my attention to putting the boys in their car seats, momma finished putting things in the trunk, and as you may have guessed, latched the trunk lid securely. The other families, apparently more organized, waited patiently (more or less) while we finished getting ready to drive back.

I can?t remember how the realization came that we were stranded, because first we had to know that I couldn?t find my keys and then get past the fact that Momma had her keys that day too, it?s just that she had stored her set in the diaper bag, which had unfortunately made its way into the trunk as well.

Shit! How many times have we locked our keys in the car? How many times, since we bought the car back in Oct 88, have we misplaced them and had to get new keys cut? Didn?t we have five spare sets, both ignition keys and door-lock/trunk keys in the junk drawer at home? This time the pain from embarrassment was unbearable, because we weren?t anywhere near home, and we were definitely putting our friends out?they undoubtedly felt compelled to stay to help us, even though they were themselves tired from the day. We were going to have to find a locksmith, and oh, by the way, we didn?t know anyone, and none of us spoke German, and even if we had a cell phone back in the early nineties, we probably would have locked that motherf*#$er in the trunk too. We were screwed people.

I thought that before I go looking for a person that spoke both English and German, and also was kind enough to take the time to help us out, that maybe I would try to access the trunk from behind the back seat. So, I unhooked the boys one at a time, moved the child car seats out of the way. I started by removing the seat portion?that came out easily? and then I would figure out how to remove the backing which was surly how I would get my arm in the trunk and grab my keys or grab the diaper bag with my wife?s keys. I was going to have to yank it out. As I went to position my knee , I saw it, and almost looked passed it?a single door-lock/trunk key lay amongst the crud that gathered under the seat from four and a half years of being in our possession. I didn?t even try to think from which ?lost key? incident it came, I just took it directly to the trunk to get our other sets of keys.

Within seconds, we went from being screwed to happily leading the convoy home.

                              8-)

                              • I had a similar experience Drew. I was living in my current area and had taken vacation to go up to Esky. I spent several days up there and then left to spend a few days with my girlfriend in Mount Pleasant. She was attending Central. I had brought an extra set of keys packed in my luggage. When I got to my girlfriends I only removed a duffle bag with a couple sets of clothes in it. She asked me to fix her bike tire so I opened my trunk, set my keys down on the floor of the trunk and removed my tools too remove the bike tire. I saw the keys laying there and told myself to pick them up so I didn't lock them in the trunk------------"Naw. I'm not going to be that stupid." Removed the tire. Put it in the trunk to go to the gas station to air it up to find the leak. Started closing the trunk and realized as I was halfway that my keys were in the trunk. Too late to stop the muscles in motion. I was pissed at myself. Called a locksmith and they wanted $60.00 or so. Didn't like that option. Now I was more pissed at myself. A couple hours later, which were accompanied by much anger and anxiety, it dawned on me I had the key numbers in my glovebox. I called the police and told them I locked my keys in the car. They came and opened the door. I retrieved the numbers and took them to the dealership where they made me a new key for $1.00. I was HAPPY.
