So Brady Hoke vowed to Adam Rittenberg he'd never worn red as as a head coach despite the fact both of his jobs were at schools that kinda sorta prioritized said color. In all other pictures Rittenberg's Johnny Cash reference is dead on. Getty has nothing. Hoke really did go through his Ball State career never putting on the school's primary color as anything more than an embarrassing accent. I would have to agree with this Facebook post

In the long-term, if Dantonio doesn’t wuss out like Nick Saben and bail out, he will continue to recruit two and three star football players to East Lansing. He will also have occasional success with this formula, like Iowa, Northwestern and Wisconsin. However, he simply will not have sustained success, he can’t, Michigan, Ohio State and to a lesser extent Nebraska will continue to be the conference powers.



There is no doubt his success coincided with the Rich Rod era at Michigan, Rich Rod didn’t get it and the Michigan program suffered. It is now painfully obvious that the “glory days” of the program and the free reign he enjoyed during Rich Rod’s regime are over, he simply cannot recruit to Michigan State when there is a strong leader at Michigan.

Yes, I admit was really into the spread offence back then. I think the dislike for LLoyd and the dislike for 'LLOYDBALL' in general push me that way. That's why I was so happy (like a lot of people) when RichRod was hired.

That was then, this is now, Hoke is a good fit.

Dantonio is a damn fine coach. There's no reason he can't keep State on par with Nebraska Michigan Wisconsin etc. all of whom will always be behind Ohio State for structural reasons.
