  • If Nebraska is better than MSU overall (you have a long way to go to prove that). Then they would be better than UofM as well because MSU is overall better than UofM.

Better than Illinois. Even your lovely BCS says so. But it might be biased toward OSU.

          • No it's not a paradox. Some teams matchup better with others. It will always be impossible to rank them linearly and expect a 10 overall team to necessarily always beat a 12 overall team. That 10 ranked team overall might not match up well with the 12th rank team. And of course there is plenty of chance and circumstance that plays into everything.

Based on who they beat, who they played, who they lost too, who won the head to head, MSU comes out a little bit better than UofM. You can disagree and say they are equal but that would be the UofM homer position.

I don't think either OSU or Illinois is ranked in the BCS.

              But michigan and state are.

              • No OSU is like 50 and Illinois is like 65 or something silly and meaningless like that.

Anyhow..... not a big deal. I no longer care that UofM got a better bowl or what their fans think is just and right. It ultimately doesn't matter in this case. I will not argue anymore here about this.

                • Michigan scored more points than State.
Michigan allowed fewer points than State.
Michigan had more rushing yards per game and more total yards per game than State.

Pretty sure the BCS rankings only go to 25 (like the polls). A computer may have ranked them that way but we know they are biased.

Given the fact that Michigan, MSU and Nebraska all:

                      1) Have similar records (10-2, 10-3, 9-3)
                      2) Have similar rankings (12, 13, 20)
                      2) Had similar schedules and schedule strengths
                      4) All won home games against another of the trio

A rational person might come to the conclusion that all 3 teams are about the same strength, and on any given day, depending on the venue, any one of the 3 might be able to beat any of the other 3 teams.

Of course, that would be a rational person. I'm not arguing that Michigan is better than either MSU or Nebraska. You are arguing that MSU is better than BOTH Michigan and Nebraska.

One of these positions is rather reasonable. The other is a blind homer position. I'll let you figure out which is which.

                          • The whole thing is awesome, really. State fans trying so, SO hard telling everyone who will listen how they're better than Michigan...yet in the end they're still going to an inferior bowl.

Damn it must suck to be a State fan.

                            • since neither team is going to the Rose Bowl ... couldn't care less.

4 consecutive years of beating your ass takes the edge off in that regard.
