My earlier point is that Michigan is 5-0 for the same reason RichRod went 3-0 and 4-0 to start the year. Powderpuff competition. The same problems that plagued RichRod are going to plague Hoke, and it'll be interesting to see if the U-M elitists turn on Hoke as quickly as they turned on RichRod.

RR lowered the bar big time and Hoke could very likley just be a better coach too.

They don't have simular circumstances coming in IMO because showing improvement over RR vs showing improvement over Carr is way different.

Of course MSU fans are going to find it arrogant We are your in school state rival. And UofM and ND have major pull in everything. Those two schools get boosts in every ranking (and they earned it with their history). Hoke admitted his team is overrated and it likely is.

Hey Sparty comes up number 1 in the mascot rankings too... and the playboy always gives MSU love when ranking the schools with the hottest girls Truth be told i've never really heard a "good" fight song from anyone. It's just what you have history with. Does anyone like any other schools fight song?

They are struggling to beat a mediocre Northwestern team. What does that bode against MSU? Ohio State?

I suspect they'll get run out of the building in both games, just like RichRod did.

I don't think NW is that bad at all. And I wouldn't be surprised if Illinois was a tougher game than OSU.

Hoke very well might be, and probably is, a better coach than Rodriguez. I have not, and will not, defend RichRod.

My point is that the problem extends beyond the coach. There is a significant lack of talent at U-M right now, and it becomes clear once they start playing real teams rather than low level squads.

But they have talent that can hide the bad areas to a degree. I mean they got a player that can literally just be the offense. And the defense still has players on it with some talent... they just needed a real system. I think UofM is likely overrated but so do most UofM fans and Hoke himself. But I don't see an RR style meltdown.

Notre dame is decent and SDSU won a decent bowl game last year. I wouldn't call it a strong non-con sched but I wouldn't call it Powderpuff either.

Still, the rubber hits the road next week.

Michigan HAS improved. Tonight's game would've been more like 42-41 (or a loss) if RR and Fluffy Toy G-Rob were still on the sidelines.

However, we still don't know by how much yet.

Can't give up on something I wasn't particularly on board with to begin with.

Michigan struggled with a very average team; that they won doesn't change the point. They are not a particularly good team, and I see them losing to MSU and OSU again this year.

I just wonder how quickly the administration will turn on Hoke when he doesn't win those games either.
