Thats not good if the sentiment is "they should have just kept RR".
Still if Hoke has one good season in the next 2 years he will gain a whole lot of excitement. RR set the bar lower than it has in a long while.
Nearly every AD in the country will tell you, if answering honestly, that Rodriguez is a better coach than Hoke.
The only advantage Hoke will have is that Lloyd's Boys won't be actively trying to sabotage his efforts at every turn. The problem is that the Bo Loyalists might just try the same exact thing to destroy Hoke.
I have no idea on what to think of Brady Hoke, but would he be a candidate at all if he wan't a Michigan Man?
I realize that he did get consideration for the Stanford job but it seems like both he and Miles(to a lesser extent) have gotten a lot of press because they were Michigan Men and Michigan has had coaching issues the last few years, raising their profile.
If Hoke had the same record but had no ties to Michigan, would he be on a top 10 list of candidates for the job?
Even if they thought Miles would turn them down, they couldn't make it seem like he was never considered. I think this was a ploy to appease the fans and Les-supporting boosters.
Hoke then went to SDSU taking over a 2-10 team and went 4-8 the next season. Last season they were 9-4.
Thats not bad success but its not exactly blowing my hair back here.
F#*K OHIO!!!

Can he do that at the big time level though? Looks like we will find out.
Not all that drastic or impressive considering it took him 6 years to do better than 7-6 at Ball State.
And that 9-4 with SDSU isn't all that impressive when you realize he was 5-3 in conference. I'll give him credit that his last team at SDSU hung tough with some good teams, though.
Yeah but I forgot to mention that he also went 4-8, 2-9, 4-7, 5-7, 7-6 in his first 5 years before that 12-1 team.

I'm not saying that it is the same, but I wasn't totally enthused about Mark Dantonio at the time he was hired. Much of that ambivalence about Dantonio was due to his record at Cincinnati.
As for as Hoke goes, I'll believe it when I see it. Brandon, after the RR dismissal, spoke at length at how fan excitement, positive press, even television ratings would play into his decision because he knows that the football program drives the university. It's everything behind the UM brand. And this is why he was saying he was/is willing to go all out in every facet (especially money wise) to go out and get a top notch HC.
If he was genuine behind these comments then that to me would seemingly rule out Hoke, correct?
Well you cant say we're Notre Dame anymore. At least they were getting big name guys coming in to screw them up further
