The kind of cash that can be "called for" is nothing short of staggering. Take a look at the halo project to expand the Big House. That didn't happen from school kids sending in their milk money it happened from getting the alumni to cough up the dough. Getting a real coach is about 1/100th the cost of that and would reap benefits to the alumni and the university. Money isn't the limiting factor here, stupidity is. How much Brandon wants to play chicken with a coach on his way out is what this boils down to.

Yeah, I know people liked the idea of Harbough at Michigan. I always stated that it was a bad idea because you know he is NFL bound and thought Michigan wants a Dynasty not 2 good years a bowl win and then hunting for a new coach. Michigan wants or needs a coach that can be great but at age 30+ Michigan is still his dream job. Harbough probably lost that the minute his brother went to the play-offs. Maybe he never had it because of all the time he spent in the NFL before becoming a College HC. But either way there is no better time to go into the NFL when you have 3-4 teams looking at you because they want a good coach that won't cost them an arm and a leg if there isn't a season next year.
